I would say 4.85 M

You should be banned for not having learned the difference between shipped and sold. Everyone not seeing the difference should be banned as there's been pretty much confusion about that. Oh, and the rules should include something to clear this up. |
You should be Banned for tell me that Im wrong when clearly according to Konami's earning report MGS4 sold 4.33 WORLDWIDE

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.
Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi
@ Shadow
Yeah, but if I'm not mistaken, Konami's numers sold are refering to "sold to retailers" not "sold to consumers". Which is what this site tracks.

Okay, guys - calm down (what a stupid thing to say... It's 3 hours ago!)
Shadow, you're making the most common mistake on VGChartz.
Companies report sold to retailer (shipped to the retailer) whereas VGChartz (and NPD, Chart-track and such) tracks sold to consumer. There is a big difference between this.
You see, companies have no way of accurately tracking how much each retailer sold of the games. Therefore, it is much easier for them to report how much they sold to the retailer.
The shipped (sold to retailer) number will always be higher than the sold (to consumer) number. It is like this for all games, and Metal Gear Solid 4 is no exception, no matter how good the game may be.
PS: Zkuq, I think you acted horribly here. Not knowing everything is no reason to be banned.

If that is the case then Ill admit im wrong. But I still MGS4 is somewhat undertracked on VGC but I predict 5.01M lifetime sales

@Oyvoyvoyv: I know, I know. I'm just fed up with these guys who come up one after another and simply can't understand the difference. I didn't necessarily mean he should be banned right away but that was more like... Getting annoyed. Personally I'd probably make the rules include a section that would have people learn the difference before saying anything about sales. Thus not understanding the thing would be breaking the rules.
Oh, and to get back on the topic - I don't know. It's pretty hard to know when it stops selling as it's not too high even now. I suppose it'll get a boost when it gets the Greatest Hits/Platinum treatment, though. 4.9M total?
Well sinse it's already shipped 4.5 million, I'd say 5.75 million LTD.
It'll be the most sold Metal Gear Solid game
life to date, life to death, life time data its all the same.
mgs4 - 5.42 million
