Forums - Sony - My gamestop has a used copy of ICO for 20 bucks. Should I buy it?

Of all the games I've played that have a certain amount of hype surrounding them, ICO is probably the worst.

Imagine the worst parts of Myst crossed with the worst parts of Tomb Raider, and you have this game. Except that those games at least have decent visuals. ICO's graphics is just a blurry mess.

Not my cup of tea perhaps, but I can understand why many other games I dislike are popular. This game really strikes me as yet another example of "the emperor's new clothes".

I've heard this enough times from people who didn't enjoy ICO that I've decided it must be a popular sentiment among people who don't enjoy it.

I don't appreciate it, though, because it implies that there's nothing to like. It's about as condescending a comparison as one could make. "Oh, if only you would look, you would see there's nothing really there!" this reasoning says to people who love the game.

ICO is a software incarnation of all your posthumous dreams. I insist.

^Then you'll be pleased to know he bought it a week ago...

I forgot I own Ico...

To me, the gameplay wasn't the greatest, but the experience as a whole, once you are finished with the game, is worth the time invested.

I never played Ico or SotC but I have seen others play the entire games through. I don't see the brilliance or the fuzz, sure, it is original but its plain boring imo.
Flame all you'd like, but I could never recommend anyone buying it/them, I just didn't like the whole concept tbh...
