No. God no. Nothing even close to one.
When people say that something has RPG elements they are only talking out of their ass or just repeating what they heard someone else say.

Triple agrees, GoW III is NOT an RPG, but it is a semi hack and slash and puzzle fixer aswell as action and adventure.

While I agree it is not an RPG based on what we have come to know as RPGS it still doesnt change the definition lol
RPG? ^_^ Nothing in common, furthermore can't tell GoW is an action-adventure, very limited puzzle elements. I'd say hack'n'slash.
is Fable2 an RPG? and how about Twilight princess? Im just trying to get my head around it now hahahaha because I would say Fable is, but twilight princess isn't based on whats been said??? is that correct?
If at first you don't succeed, you fail
Rpg!? lolz - That would mean Car games like NFS are Rpg's because you can level up and upgrade them. GoW is a Action/Adventure -Hack n Slash with some sexual connotations throwing in :P

That's correct.
RPG is an idea which has been brutally mangled by video games. The defining quality isn't simply how you develop the abilities and powers of your character, but defining the values, beliefs, and actions of your character. The player must have some level of input into how the story unfolds.
Very few "JRPGs" have any RPG in them at all. They're just number-based gameplay with a preset character running through a linear story. Most WRPGs have at least a little RPG in them, as they let the player describe the main character and make at least a few decisions on how the story unfolds and how the main character interacts with the NPCs around him/her.

@famousringo
So are you saying the only "true" RPGs are those which use pen and paper aka tabletop RPGs?
Absolutely not.
There is no levelling of any kind, no collectible armour, nothing except the ability to improve attacks, which if you look at it, you can do in Ratchet and Clank.
This thread reminds me that I need to play Chains of Olympus.
(It's Zelda all over again.)
Truthfully, I never heard of any debate. I think it's an action game, or a hack and slash maybe.
