Forums - Nintendo - Wii bubble theorist admits he was wrong, kind of

What is getting my goat anymore is that some of them that are still claim the doom and gloom are going to be right here pretty soon but the wii sales will eventually cap an settle back down

Mind you it will still be a monster number but they wont care

They will see it going from 800 k a month down to 400 k a month and say ,

“see I told you the bubble was about to burst wii sales are down over 50 % as every soccer mom has one now”

I listen to a lot of gaming podcasts, and not an episode goes by without numerous comments disparaging the Wii. This is not the the attitude of this one "journalist", but the consensus opinion among them all. They are all hoping the bubble does burst, and Wii sales die off.

the best bit has to be when he says he wasnt able to play at a particular event and that this was a bad sign. but then completly ignores the fact that it came out a few months later

In the meantime, it's the gaming journalists' jobs which are dying off, and the Wii keeps trucking along. Isn't it ironic?

It's a pretty sad situation.
How much time as the man spent on following and commenting the videogame industry ?
10 years ? 15 years ? 20 years ?
I guess he realized after this much time passed that he has never undestood the industry.
No matter how much effort he did, it was basically a waste of time.
No wonder he is so bitter about the matter.

The Wii , among many other things, has disrupted his professional reputation too.

This apology was worse than Mel Gibson's apology to Jewish people.

Mel Gibson (Family Guy): I’m really really sorry about your big noses. I’m really sorry about how greedy you are. But most of all, I’m really sorry about your dirty, under-handed, backstabbing ways. Your number one dirty-Jew fan, Mel Gibson.

The problem with weblogs is that the authors can't be banned for trolling.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

Wow. He pretty much just admitted he was wrong so he could bash the Wii.

Roffle, apparently there was one comment he didn't like and used it to go after gonintendo.

I find it hard to believe that this is the same guy everyone says is supposed to have written these books. He seems to have absolutely no regard for his reputation or credibility. Even when you do have crybaby opinions, in that position you don't have a public meltdown, because few things on the internet ever really disappear.

The fact that he wants a better game for his wii makes him an arse? I mean lets face it there are some top rank first party software SSbb mk mG Zelda MP3, after that everyone complains about the wiiware and over extensive mediocre game selection.

And the fact that every Senior citizen home in america has a wii for the elderly to bowl on is a hardcore market. Still maybe the game line up this xmas was all everyone here wanted.

top software Wii sports , Wii play, Wiifit, MarioKart. Not bad choices but if You have a Wii not what your looking for. yes it got COD WAW AND ROCKBAND.
But so did everyone else.

This guy is looking for a blockbuster 3rd party support that rocks. maybe its that new alien shooter were all waiting for the Halo Killer.l
