Forums - General - Stock Ford Focus in a race?!

Not bad kwaad. But you did have two benefits over the MR2, Focus has better suspension than MR2, and Focus has front wheel drive (depending on Focus model, it may have had even more horsepower). Europeans indeed know how to make a good suspension, only one that makes better suspension than the German, is the French (but, thats the only good thing in French cars...).

But it was nice to see that you liked racing IRL, try gravel next time, it's much more fun than racing in tarmac.

On that kinda track, gravel is just a little lot slower, and a little more... 'fishy' :P

The MR2 has 8 less horses, and 10 more foot lbs/torque.

The MR2 is roughly 25% lighter, has much wider tires, and for racing, has a MUCH better suspension.

The fastest MR2 there pulled a 47 second run. 12 seconds faster than my brother. He just cant drive. :P

Dont bash the MR2 on a track. Laugh at every one you see playing hop-scotch hopping all the way down the interstate, jarring the driver out of his/her mind.

So this must be you Kwaad ??? or Bigfoot.... well I´ll trust that is you for now, sounds really fun, I don´t know anything about cars (exept for basic repairs) but a good speed rush is fun anywhere, oh and nice choice on your future car, shes a real beauty.

It might be easier than simulators but its nowhere as realistic.

 Yeah that's me. :o

if you notice, if he would spin, with his backend moving to the right, he would come right at me, at about 50mph? Yeah, that's what the miata did to me... :P

It was great fun. Broke the F*king AC on the car tho. *sob* It's the hottest year in 20 years where I am.

Hmmm...Saturn Sky Redline. Nice taste in cars Kwaad. You get one of those and you cream your brothers track time.

Bash MR2? No way, that's not what i was meaning. It's a great car, steady and well balanced. I was just meaning that you underestimate the Focus. Just like you, people usually overrestimate the benefits of the width of tire (they do have meaning, but not that way as people seem to think). And just as i said, not bad. Your brother had the better car and you had almost the same time. I couldn't watch the video, so it's hard for me to say at this point would the track you drove be fun in gravel. But try gravel in general. Gravel and ice, the two best surfaces for racing.

Focus is mediocre dude, but Mr2 takes skill to drive fast.

I like the new saturn roadster. There's also a pontiac version but who wants a pontiac???

I'm still waiting for the Chevy Volt:

A plug-in hybrid!

Hybrids are the future of fast cars.

Toyota won a 24hour endurance race with a hybrid.

Welcome to autocross, Kwaad.  :)  You gotta love it, I haven't taken my Miata to one since last year, just been too damn busy.  Glad to see you had fun, and stayed safe.  Just remember, never ever EVER take your eyes off a car in your area of the track!

Hope you like the Sky.  Please PLEASE don't get the Pontiac version of the car...

Eww. The solstace is just... FUGLY.

Yeah, I know not to. A certin Miata almost ran me over. And when I say almost ran me over, it was moving about 10-20mph sideways at me... Always pay attention. That sucker didnt hit me, but I know it would have HURT if he had. My both my legs, feet, and my side are sore from trying to 'super-sprint' off to a side... haha. I tried to run too fast... and hurt myself... at least it didnt hit me.

I'd never buy that volt.

I'd get a http://www.zapworld.com. Yup, same thing, just out now... and alot better. lol

Aint a chance in hell that Volt would hold a finger to a MR2. Maybe a Focus.

Hus - You know your stuff. MR2 is VERY hard to drive, but VERY fast when you know what your doing. My brother hasnt quite learned how to handle it yet... He's afraid to wreck it, due to it's unstability. (he went flying off the track some 50 feet. I thought he wrecked it, because he sat there for ~40 seconds without moving. Luckily nothing was wrong, and he was just freaking out. But he's afraid to 'master' the car's... unique... driving style becuase he cant afford to wreck it.
