If you like RPGs, then Lost Odyssey, Last Remnant, Tales of Vesperia, Infinite Undiscovery, Blue Dragon, and Star Ocean 4 would be good. If you like non-JRPG, there's oblivion and fallout 3, and I say Fable II is a must get. If you like shooters, Call of duty 4 and world at war is pretty good. Same with Gears 2 with lots of replay value doing multiplayer. If you like fun platform adventure, Prince of persia, and Naruto series is quite good too.  And yes, Left4Dead is a great game as well.

EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 2017!!! hi action co-op sci fi zaniness, 53 levels of blasting giant ants, giant robots, giant spiders, and even bigger ants, plus godzilla knock offs
Stranglehold is really good as well, and both are dirt cheap (though if you have the option the ps3 collector's edition has all of hardboiled on it making it the best version to pick up)

Seriously? Go buy this game now. It will make your head explode and make rainbows and unicorns come out and sing christmas carols. Anybody with a 360 who even THINKS they like RPGs should get it. Hell, even if you just like action games try it out.

Impossibly good.

Pikachu, take that with a touch of salt. Tales of Vesperia has its virtues, but you may not like it as much as you like Pokemon.

I would suggest getting Vesperia its my number 2 game of all time...

That's why I recommended he pick up something turn-based like Blue Dragon.

Tales games are an acquired taste unless you're just huge into anime and don't care about getting pounded in the face endlessly with the same tropes. Might not be something he wants to risk his money on.
