Forums - Sales - In West, FFXIII will sell more at 360 or ps3?

Depends on the sales of both consoles.

If the gap stays like that or the gap gets even bigger, the Xbox360 version will sell better. GTA IV was a game connected with the PS3 and the Xbox360 still sold 1.5 million units more.

And MS will promote it like hell. So I say Xbox360.

PS3 i think, just because the userbase will be big when it arrives and because the series has all of its history on playstation consoles

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

PS3.

1) PlayStation has been the home of Final Fantasy for what, 13 years now?

2) By the time FF13 is released in the West, the PS3 will have a larger install base than the 360 in Europe. It's worth noting that GTA4 on PS3 outsold the 360 version in Others despite having a smaller install base. Because it's a PS series.

3) The 360 version will probably sell better in NA, but not by very much. The 360 will still be leading in America when FF13 is released in the West, but it shouldn't be by more than 4-5 million. JRPGs so far haven't sold well at all in NA, but then none of them have been Final Fantasy.

1) So have many franchises that moved to 360 and sold better

2) You don't know that, the 360 is still consistantly outselling the ps3 in europe.  Also Europe is less important than NA when talking about JRPGs.

3) uh, the difference in NA is over 8 million right now, I don't see any reason to believe it's going to shrink to 4-5 million.  It seems to me like it's going to increase 1-2 million if anything.

  • PSP
  • NDS
  • Xbox360
  • PS1
  • PS2
  • PC

And there might be some other I forgot in this second I wrote this down.

1) Name 3.

2) It will sell only slightly less in Europe than in NA. The 360 is outselling the PS3 in Europe because of their prices. Do you think the PS3 will be $400 in 2010? I think it's pretty much certain that Europe will go to the PS3.

3) Final Fantasy XIII is not releasing in the West any time soon. Mid 2010 at the earliest. By that time, there will have been another holiday season, a price cut and Gran Turismo 5.

1) The 360 beats out the PS3 on nearly every multiplatform game. (DMC4 is the only game worth note that did better on the PS3)
2) The 360 has sold more JRPGs than the PS3.
3) The PS3's JRPGs did abysmal in the US.

PS3 JRPGs (US only)
EA= 160k
D3 = 150k
VC = 90k
ES= no data....probably awful though considering it only sold 60k in Japan.

360 JRPG (US only)
LO = 520k
BD = 260k
IU = 210
ES = 180k
TLR = 170k
EA = 140k
ToV = 110k

...
Spectral Force 3 = 40k ( I actually own this game lol)
Zoids Assault = 20k
Operation Darkness 10k

Of course the most of these JRPGs are new IPs so its really hard to tell. Like some people mentioned before, Star Ocean will be a good judge of what to expect.

1) And Devil May Cry was originally PS2 exclusive. See where this is going?

2) The 360 HAS more JRPGs than the PS3...

3) How many of the 360's JRPGs are made by Square Enix, and how many of the PS3's are? Five to zero? Square Enix JRPGs are the only ones that sell in the West, Final Fantasy in particular.

I think we'll see with White Knight Chronicles just how well a JRPG can do on PS3. And that's Level 5.

Yea it was a ps2 exclusive and it sold better on the 360 in the west which is exactly what this topic is about.  Also if you look at past FF sales they sold better in NA than in Europe.  There isn't 1 that sold better in EU.

DMC 4 barely sold better on the PS3 though.

1.30m to 1.18m
