Replayability of the single player and the multiplayer modes helps a FPS to last a long time. I beat CoD 4 and WaW both combined under 10 hours. But the addicting gameplay in both the single and multiplayer keeps me coming back for more. |
I think thats the best part of the short campaigns, you can play them over and over again with out a lot of effort, online won't work for the afternoon you can go play SP campaign. Some of the most fun i had with CoD4 SP, was playing on easy and knifing all the guys.
While 6 to 10 hours has become the standard for single player campaigns in a lot of games now and there are some benefits (more focused and consistent experience), I do miss the days of the N64 with Rare's epic games ... 20 to 40 hour single player games with several multiplayer modes each with multiple maps and a cheat system which encouraged playing through a game until you mastered it.
The thing that really depresses me is that a lot of these modern games cost over 10 times as much as what those old Rare games cost, and with how large game budgets have become it is unlikely that anyone would ever justify making games like that again.
Thats pretty good for a mostly online focused FPS. And you know the quality and fun factor will be high in single player.
10 hours is a good length for an FPS. I think dead space took me like 12 hours to go through and it was brodering on getting too long at some points, but CoD4 I felt was too short at like 6-7 hours. So this should make for a good average as long as it keeps interesting throughout.

Resistance 2 was around 12 hours for me, but I'm sure a lot of that was trial and error from all the dying.
Still, around 10 hours is pretty good as long as it doesn't start to get boring.
Nice how ever what can you do with 10 hours,i hope the story doesnt feel like its dragging on.

It was a bit over 9 hours for me. People beating it under 8 must be damn good.
