Forums - Gaming - How come everyone cares about Mosnter hunter all of a sudden?

I've got two reasons here, I'll list them out:

Monster Hunter Freedom 2nd G Capcom 2.71m
Monster Hunter Freedom 2 Capcom 2.30m

I didn't know anything about Monster Hunter before this site, and these sales tell me it's huge in Japan. I'm interested.

A core 3rd party Wii game with great graphics and online play? I'm interested.

The series has never been big until it hit the PSP, and now that the next iteration is on the Wii, how would people not care? It's one of the few major franchises coming to the Wii, and it's seeing its first console release since it got big. People here generally hype the home console games more than the handhelds.

@DMJ: Stop crying!

It takes a few iterations for many franchises to get their big break. Few cared about CoD until #4. Same with FF until #7. GTA3. Dynasty Warriors 3. DQ9/10 (hopefully!). etc.

Saw a trailer and saw the really cool looking underwater fights with giant crazy monsters. Looks rad.



Wii has more 20 million sellers than PS3 has 5 million sellers.

What's so bad about getting exited for a game that you never played, because its coming to a console that you're own. And if i become a fan after only playing MH III am I fake? Many of current FF fans have had their first experience with that game while playing FF VII yet they religiously follow that franchise.

I found it quite obvious right off the bat that your just angry that its generated more hype on wii than on your sony consoles.

I'm basically interested because I'm a big wii player, I just recently found out about them, it really pushes the wii, and the online sounds fun. Why does this even matter though?



Support good third party games on wii. Buy games like house of the dead overkill, de blob, madworld, the conduit and boom blox.

Ever heard of just getting excited for a product because it's expanded beyond its initial install base? I mean, I'm not a fan yet, but I might be one when and if I play the game. And isn't the game being played by more people more important than these new people having been thee since the start? You're sharing new experiences with people all around you, who may never have gotten to play otherwise. Isn't that kind of great?

As soon as this was announced for the Wii, tons of people cared, one even going as far to say "It's always good when Sony loses an exclusive".

No one cared when it was selling gangbusters on PSP, but as soon as MH3 was announced for Wii, everyone and their mom was on the games jock. As a true lover of the series, it makes me sad that people are only on the game because it's on the Wii.

  I don't know why your so sad about it. Its not that big of a deal, more people are going to play the franchise you love, and as a true lover of the series I bet you won't even play MH3.

Plus you know everyone is like this. You can't tell me you wouldn't be excited that an awesome franchise like zelda was moving from wii to PS3. I know I'd be excited if resistance or something was moving to wii.

Theyve heard buzz around the internet. Wii got this game instead of PS3. That alone made them interested. Theyve seen what Capcom is trying to do and now are excited.

Why do they need some reason to like this game beside saying it look interesting?

Yea and PS360 owners say there are no games coming to Wii but if (PS3 owners especially!) would get all the JRPG that Wii has they would be more than excited. Of course they dont because the graphics make their eyesbleed.

According to BengaBenga the NPD has said that 70% of Wii owners also have a PS2.
