on another note, I really don't take what Mark Rein says to seriously. He'll change sides on the drop of a money bag. I still remember how much he sucked up to MS back a year ago. He was dissing the PS3 any chance he got. The guy is a real asshole too.

But I thought DVD was enough for this generation? I thought consoles didn't need a guaranteed hard drive?

he's just promoting his game. this time he has reason to promote the ps3 since they have a multi level deal with sony. i thought it was cliffy b who was doing most of the trash talk though.

the thing is that he uses certain true things to emphasize a false point sometimes. like saying gears couldnt be done on ps3 (false), because the 360 has a unified ram architecture which makes it better for graphics whores (true). this time he is actually being some what more tame.

Mass Effect indicates Rein is full of shit. As soon as the PS3 has a game of a scale larger than that, THEN we'll talk about DVD limitations. Until then, this is just simple marketing for the PS3 version, and as was mentioned above, Mark Rein is a douche. He a money grubbing little worm in the industry.

Woah the hate on Mark Reign is intense. Now that he says something you don't like he's a douche...

As for Mass Effect, I'm very interested to know how that game is as big as is promised and is still on one disc.

Edit: How come Blue Dragon is on 2 discs but Mass Effect is on 1? If anything, I would have thought it would be the other way around.

they had to trim it, but yea they are talking about one gigantic game. let's see if it delivers. seems to me that mass effect is the bar for big epic games this gen.

By the way it seems that Ubisoft is to be taken seriously now and Epic are douches.

I remember the days when Epic was the second coming to Xbox fans...it seems it was a long time ago (10 months).

I was thinking this same thing until I heard the main game is basically 20 hours ish and you can get more hours from sidequests and stuff.

Well I'm assuming you (like me) have been following the videos and information on it.  I figure you have seen the universe map.  If not it's in this video I believe http://www.gamevideos.com/video/id/13855.  The scale looks gigantic. I mean, we obviously won't know for sure until it's released, but right now Mass Effect is looking like it could be the largest game of the generation.  As long as games like that (and heck, Oblivion for that matter) are being crammed into DVD-9s, I see no need for Blu-Ray.  Of course UT3 could shock us and be a larger game with more depth, detail, and interaction, but somehow I doubt it. 

I'm looking forward to playing the game anyway, but I've never been a fan of Mark Rein (probably a bit much to call him a douche, though I do think he's an incredible prick at the very least).  It's not really just this comment.  Numerous actions of his have rubbed me the wrong way.  He has taken shots at whichever company is not paying him currently; making a couple cheap blows at the PS3 back around the time of Gears of War, and then recently complaining about Microsoft's focus on HD, even though clearly Sony is focusing on it even more.  Anyway, that's just my opinion of the guy.
