Forums - Gaming - L4D Now at 90% on Metacritic.

I love this game, and I am glad to see it hit 90% status on Metacritic.

Crazy thing is, it was at 87% a month ago, and keeps climbing.  Going to go kill some infected on Live now to celebrate, great job Valve !!!

Can't help but feel this is given the special treatment cause its either

1. Valve - and valve is sacred in gamers eyes
2. Original concept - and people play it for a week, write the review and move on. they dont spend more time with it to see the major faults with the game.

The game is great but its a very barebones package. A lot of aspects about it are broken such as multiplayer matchmaking and people constantly dropping after they play as zombies. No one wants to play as humans after all...since thats like playing the campaign again.

Weird, I've actually never come across either problems. I'm using the PC version btw.

I love the online coop, but it is way too short. 90% for a great coop game seems a bit generous. They really needed to ship this with 5 or 6 movies instead of 4. Some free DLC could change my mind.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

Yeah, the 360 version is a mess. Sometimes it gets really slow...people drop left and right and cause gmae over. A lot of times your team doesnt want to play as humans and they will team kill you and themselves immediatly jsut so we get to play as zombies...after which they will drop.

When your friend is playing and you want to join his game, there is no way to be sure you will end up on his team. its jsut random.

PC could be different but PC is not at 90% but at 89 still...:)

I noticed yesterday when I was over there...deserves it..

Seems like this game just came out no where and grabed a huge amount of attention. The developer revealed that the game was in development for three years, but a very small team worked on it for about two years. Then the whole Valve team joined in to finish it. This may explain why you felt it was a bit bare bone.

I give it props for trying to do something new with the incredibly over-saturated FPS genre, but L4D just isn't for me. I found the game play to be extremely repetitive.

The PC version is very good but has problems like any online-centric game. The biggest problem isn't people quitting after the zombie phase, but quitting because they are losing (rage quitting). Sometimes quitting mid-game is excusable, especially if the other team is exploiting, but people seem to quit mostly because they got killed or anticipate their team losing.

I disagree that the game is "barebones". Due to its format there is a ton of replayability.

Well, about time. The 360 had like 10 games rated 89 just this past year. And about 4 or 5 were exclusive.
