Hi, I'm busy doing my university dissertation on the computer games industry. I'm trying to find the top 20 selling games worldwide in 2007 as well as 2008. I can't seem to locate them. Any help?

The problem is that there's no way to see yearly charts for Europe, thus you can't see yearly charts worldwide. My suggestion is to use the yearly charts for Americas and Japan

A safe bet would at least be looking at:

Wii Fit
Mario Kart Wii
Grand theft auto 4
Pokemon-games
Halo 3
Call of Duty 4
Those are sure-fire top 20 games.

Then below you'll have to look at Mario Galaxy, Fable 2, and many I can not recollect.

At the risk of being flamed, generally the list will be populated by 360 and Wii games. Unless you incorporate handhelds then it's a different matter.

He mentioned computer games so doesn't that mean all 20 will be PC games?

How important is it to you? I can try to compile the numbers for you if you really want me to, but I won't bother if it isn't really important.

I included all the games to sell over 3m in 2008 in there - 18 alongside hardware totals and other analysis. I also have Others totals in there.

If you include Wii Sports you have the 19 most played games in 2008

Or the 19 most bought new non-computer games in 2008.

^ 360 is a monster in america. But its amazing how much software the Wii sells worldwide. Thanks The Source. :)
