I think the Xbox 360 will outsell the PS3 on a weekly basis in the U.S. from now until sometime in 2008 (maybe Feb or March?).

I dont think it will do much, its only online(unless it becomes the greatest online game ever created nothing at all in sales) AAA heavenly sword though will boost sales for sure.

nice prediction, I will bet that it wont outsell it after next week's sales.

It will outsell PS3 a lot longer than that. I dont see any forseeable point where PS3 can outsell 360 in NA. Especially if rumors of a second 360 price drop are true.
PS3 is really slowing down, both the premium and Elite are now nearly ahead of PS3 on amazon individually (so combined..?). The core pack is thriving (saw one tonight at Toys R Us looking for Bioshock)
There's also the problem of when PS3 reverts to 599...since it's already slowing down again at 499.
Also vgchartz numbers I dont trust very much. I'd really like to see July NPD's to see how much effect price drop had on PS3 sales. I have a feeling 360 is outselling PS3 by a good deal more in reality than in vgchartz sales.
Personally I almost trust amazon sales more than vgchartz as it's transparent. Right now we can see that two 360 sku's (#9, #11) are selling each about as good as 499 PS3 (#10) which suggests a 2-1 ratio, which of course is fairly average for 360>PS3 in NA (both Canada and USA) when we look at past NPD's.
I wish all the people who are always saying "I don't really trust VGChartz sales I'm waiting for " would come back an apologize every time they're proven wrong.
Hmm so we back to the ps3 AAA titles going to boost console sales, well cause what xbox has coming this year.....
With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.I don't understand what how PS3 owners could possibly think 40K~ sales at this point are acceptable. PS3 has a HUGE Mountain to climb and the 360 gained another 10K of ground on it. Sure sales didn't triple, but thats because they weren't nearly as much in the crapper 18K is significantly worse then 35K.
Anyways, I think much of the PS3 sales at this point (roughly 2/3's) are still going to be for the 60 Gig Packages since with the emotion engine its a far better deal. If Sony drops the 80 Gig to $499 later this Holiday it'll be a much better deal, but I think $599 locks out most of the mass market again.
Parents are going to buying up 360s & Wiis en masse if thats the case.

I may be wrong but I don't think the 360 price cut applied to the whole week? which would obveously hurts its week/week comparison...
correct me if I am wrong |
That's one way to look at it, another way is everyone who was really waiting for the price cut to happen already went and bought it the second the price dropped.
Now the sales will go up due to a full week of the lower price but it will be more to average customers who walk in and buy one then the people who were holding back for a price cut.

You say that 40k sales a week are unacceptable but the 53k a week for the 360 is good? How can you say both things at the same time?
We all know about the difference in numbers between the 360 and the PS3, how does that effect how much of a difference each price drop is making? The fact is the PS3 price drop has had an effect for 5 weeks now, let's see how the 360 price cut effects sales in the coming weeks cause the first week was unimpressive.
Even with the argument that it didn't change as much by percentage because the 360 was selling better than the PS3 was before the cut doesn't cut it because the PS3 went up in sales more on the week of the cut than the 360 for that week in numbers not just percentage.
Also, don't dismiss the 80 gb going down to 500 dollars on its own without a pack in game, especially since it's cheaper to make than the 60 gb console now that is at 500 dollars.
In addition to all that, the Emotion Engine thing matters only to perfectionist gamers not to the average person who goes to buy the PS3, he/she will probably not even know about it or if they even knew they probably wouldn't care much.
