According to this graph the PS3 was trending higher durring the matched time periods from launch for about a year. But over the last couple of monthes that trend has favored the 360. And the trend will probably only worsen for the PS3 due to the recession.

if you look at that graph, both systems were about dead even for the first year. After that the PS3 took off (comparatively) and got ahead. However, you need to take into consideration that the PS3 started 1 year behind, and if you look farther along the graph you'll notice that the X360 really took off in its third year, while the PS3 is starting to slow down.

As shown in this graph, the PS3's second full holiday season in all regions, was actually lower than the first one. While the X360's third full holiday is way bigger than any other holiday sales on that graph.

So yes, there is concern about how the PS3 is performing and rightfully so.

Selling faster is an accomplishment, however, unless you decrease the lead margin of console sold by your competitor, it doesnt hold the same merit (IMO).

So its selling faster than a console which is considered dead multiple times in its life impressive!

Unfortunately the generation ends, when the first console of the next generation will be released.
So the 360 will ALWAYS have one year more than the PS3. It's called an "advantage"

And by your logic. Sony would have to going to sell 11.2 million just to remain the same amount ahead (3.2 million) at end of next year.
