I don't think it'll happen
If they have take a look at the sales of No More Heroes.... I guess they won't

They're turning profit on the Wii - that's for sure. Sure, they might have lost money on Go Diego Go! Safari Rescue (250K sold) Dora Saves the Snow Princess (140K and selling) The Bigs (320K) Table Tennis (170K) No, wait, they earned heaps on that. My mistake :P They are also definitely earning money on the 2nd best selling 3rd party game on Wii... |
Oh, I didn't mean to suggest that they weren't making money on the Wii, I'm just saying that money is going somewhere, and it's not to Take 2's shareholders.

I'll tell you this, if a Wii GTA comes, and it underperforms, the Wii will *never* get decent 3rd party support. That'll be all the proof the 3rd party publishers need to keep avoiding it with traditional demographic targetted games.
I hope the Wii does get a GTA... and it better be damn good. If its not stellar, then I'd prefer one never showed.
If the Nintendo keeps these sales up, every 3rd party franchise will go its way or its successor eventualy. I just hope the Wii2 accepts GC controles.

Suda's best selling game ever? |
I just compared the GTA series to a game which comes close to the sandbox genre (Do you know a game on the Wii which is better comparable ? I didn't found one)
Rockstar wouldn't be pleased with a GTA game on a major platform, which would struggle to reach 5 million.

I don't know how little GTA fits with the Wiis base. I mean, the Wii one is the closest one to the Ps2 one. Also, what is he comparing? A game that sold 7M & 4M last gen The best selling franchise last gen Also, the Wii wouldn't need to be even close to as largely scaled, and could easily have less than 1/10th of the budget (GTA IV = 100M, SMG was 15M, they're not going to make it costier than SMG)
I'd still say that GTA should stay at Ps3/X360 though, as its sales will probably be at least 2x the size over a Wii version. But heck, why don't they port GTA:SA/VC on 1 disc over to Wii? That would cash in a fair amount... Oh what the hell, Take2 is probably earning heaps on the Wii already.

Surely the $100M for GTA is including marketing, whereas the SMG figure is just developement costs?
No way did GTA cost $100M to develope, or did SMG's marketing cost less then $15M lol. Anyone got any sources on these figures as I've seen them a few times and not sure where they came from.
Scratch that, I've seen in an interview that the president guy said GTA had a 'production budget' of $100M. Surely that includes marketing... right? :/ Also just found that GTA IV brought in revenue of $710, I don't even know how that is possible.

You know they would probably lose about 10 million fans, if the game only sells 2-3 million units.
Baaaad start for the next gen.
I don't think that GTA V will come to the wii, but it will probably be getting its own version, like the DS.
And a question: Does Rockstar re-use their engines?
Honestly, I want to see what happen when a GTA game meets the family friendly Wii. We will then see who's console it really is... Because if you don't think all the hockey moms and grandparents pitch a fit over a GTA game on the same console that their family plays on, think again...
