yeah especially since I don't see for what you need a big HDD for PS3.... you have nothing to DL from live lol :P
and I never said best buy is cheap but the opposite..

This is such BS. Please stop posting these lies.
If that was the case, PS2 would have been the most crippled system ever...
Why are people so gullible? Who actually believes this garbage?
This is not even about the Core you tards...it's about the 20GB model supposedly not having enough space.
>>"It's the consequence of having a limited size hard drive, with a lot of other things to fill it out," he says.">>
He means the 20GB only has like, a couple GB's for games streaming when all is said and done..because 20GB=18.6GB+user data+other stuff+BC files etc etc =not much left.
It's amazing how much hate burns in people for the core pack..like it stabbed them every day...WHO CARES. It's probably less than 10% of 360 owners GET A LIFE.
Anyways if you actually know anything about game programming you know lack of HDD is not a problem..otherwise PS2 is the most gimped, crappy system of all time. And Gamecube is the second least powerful, most gimped. Right?
Of course it's all Sony fanboys who hate the Core (because they know it will be used to destroy Sony) so you'll never get them to admit PS2 sucks because it lack a HDD LOL.
5400RPM is barely at all faster than a 12X DVD drive..but I know you guys will just completely ignore that fact and most of you probably cant even begin to comprehend it. Technically illiterate doesn't begin to describe the technology level of most of you..
But just ask yourself why Madden is 60 FPS on 360 and 30 on PS3 with HDD...or why most PS3 multi-platform games have longer load times with the HDD than 360 without HDD...
The article is actually fairly interesting..for one it notes ms DOES allow MMO's to require the HDD (I think it's very reasonable in that case).
>>"We can't guess how much space you're going to need for your updates, and, if anything's going to keep you from expanding indefinitely, it won't be us, as much as market forces," said Ian Lewis, software design engineer at Microsoft. "Feel free to require 30GB for your game; that's just going to make your potential audience a lot smaller.">>
That is also interesting..MS is not telling designers to do anything.
BTW, gimping early adopters is not unprecedented. For one thing, the first runs of the PS2 could only read single layer discs, which is why so many developers were reluctant to use the second layer. That also means that you would have to get a newer PS2 to play games like God of War and Xenosaga.

One thing. The RPMs of the HDD may be slower than the DVD drive, but it can pick up a lot more data with the reader heads than the laser of an optical drive. So in one second, the HDD reads a lot more data than an optical drive.

Well looks like Microsoft may want to look at a new price drop, on hard drives. I mean that is just nuts, they should be looking at selling people a hard drive at competitive prices. If they make this cheap enough it becomes a pretty much non-issue.

I also install games on the PS3 hard drive and play them with almost zero loading. I have more games downloaded on my PS3 than I do on my 360.
When actually big games like Warhawk and Socom: Confrontation come out there will be so much more to download too.

How about you don't call people tards next time or other insulting remarks. Just cause you're pissed doesn't justify insulting people. This is a warning.
Beyond that, the PS2 certainly was weaker than the Xbox and not having a hard drive was definitely a minus, who here is going to argue against that?
The weird thing is all Xboxes came with hard drives but now 360s are coming without hard drives? Isn't this a step back instead of forward?
Also I think it concerns core owners a lot more than 'Sony fanboys', I'm sure I would be very happy if I have a 360 core and I went to play an MMO and couldn't because I needed to buy a 100 dollar hard drive for it... I'm sure people love doing that.

lol I was being sarcastic.... but i was just answering to leo-j the fact that you don't need 200G... well except if you put all your games on HDD.... but you shouldn't have to do that IMO... so you have to have a 200go... I mean on my PC I have like 500Go i have dozens of HD movies, more than 15000 songs, and big library of softwares and games... i'm just a little bit over half of my space... so 200Go is IMO not necessary for a console....
