Forums - Sales - Microsoft say they've sold about 8m in PAL territories

I think we should just walk away with two basic agreements here:

1. This number suggests that VGC may have overtracked.

2. VGC should not change their data right now, based on this number.

Wait and see. I personally have always expected VGC to adjust some of their holiday 2008 numbers, especially for Europe/Others, for many consoles and games. There are just way too many factors for VGC to get accurate numbers across the board in Europe/Others.

Hopefully, we'll get year end lists with LTD hardware sellthrough for most of the major countries (UK, France, Spain, Germany, Italy), plus we know we'll have at least WW LTD shipment totals from the console makers.

fair enough. But that 400 sure would go along way towards the Wii's 50% ms.. ; )

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

It's 8M in EMEA. It excludes regions like China, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand and all of South America. I think 1.6M in those regions is possible.

Taiwan and SK data alone is around 325,000-400,000 units for the X360.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Yup, VGC looks to be almost spot on in fact. Maybe slightly off, but certainly not by much.

If you actually read the PR and read what the analyst had to say he says he has seen the early data and it shows OVER 8 million in EMEA and that would put VGC spot on. This 400k business is nothing but a joke.

So that's what all this is about? I was wondering why you're always claiming numbers need to be readjusted.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

yea, of course. Wouldn't 500k overtracking be affecting the 360's marketshare just a little.

Also, I do claim numbers to be off a bit... I am usually right. Remember in November i was bitchen about the Wii being too low for nov, and BF specifically. Its not like NDP did not come out 400k higher than VGC. Or how about CODWaW??? Its already been adjust once, which in itself proves I am already right. Wiimusic... I made a whole thread about that one... it was undertracked by 100% in nov. Also I am gonna call that Wiimusic is about 150 too low in others (but well see after this week, maybe it be really high and erase that statement). I am basing that off the fact that ESPLA has Wiimusic somewhere between 200-300k and UK makes up about 25% of the Euromarket. Some too high? maybe be they seem to play it safe with the Wii around here for the most part. I think MK Wii cold be overtracked... but that is only becasue the sales are so riducously high (i think this every month and NDP still comes in higher). There are a few others I think are low, Boom Blox, GH:WT, but I really could care less about them. Also right now ioi has US at about 2.7 million Wiis sold in Dec. Normal Nov to Dec increases are like 100%, I know the Wii is special due to supply but really, I am thinking they increase more than just 35-40%.

I have been wrong b4 ; )

even if vgchartz are counting some of others, than its still overtracked cause that 8 million figure is shipped so they cant have possibly sold 10 million? something gone wrong somewhere. vgchartz have overtracked and thats the whole point of official numbers. so vgchartz can adjust and be as accurate as possible in europe.

South America isn't included in others, it's part of the Americas, so dont bring that up when trying to justify the difference in the numbers. Just had to say it.

No they are not shipped so quit saying that plain and simple. Read better.

um, you cant tell whether it is shipped or sold by reading the article in the op, in fact since almost all of these types of numbers are shipped that is where most people who are regulars here would lean. The only reason I m open to it being sell though is because someone said MS's source was gft.... But the article in the op does not mention that. So from reading that article any person that knows how sales press releases usually go would assume shipped.
