Forums - Gaming - Do gamers enjoy movies and books less than the average population?

I'm asking this because many gamers seem to not like long cutscenes, do not care about depth and writing quality in their storylines and often become upset over games that feature a prominent storyline in liue with gameplay. Do gamers simply enjoy movies and books less than the average population hence why they gravitate towards games and dislike movie and book qualities in their medium of choice?

No, what I hate is not long cut-scenes and good story, however it better have better gameplay. If I want a story I will read a book, even the shittiest of books have better story lines than the best told games. Games are for play not story.

Likening not liking cutscenes in games to not liking movies is like deducing i must not like reading Shakespeare because i don't read the back of my cereal packet it the morning. So, to answer your question, no.

When i'm not not gaming i'm watching movies and i spent many years of my life reading ridiculous numbers of books.

On the contrary, often games inspire me to read more books.

Over the coming week I hope to post two reviews, one for each Mass Effect book that I have just recently finished reading.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

When I put a game on I want to play it not watch it. If I'm in the mood to watch something I'll put a film on.

Some Nintendo first party games have more text than a book! Gimme some voice acting!!

Well with me is a bit other way around i dont mind cut scenes as long as they entertaining (Like RE 4) and there are not too much of them.

I personally still enjoy a good movie or a book over a game (but i dont really consider myself to be that much of a hardcore gamer) just because they are more quality entertainment for me.
