You are comparing year 3 of 360 to year 2 of PS3, which isn't exactly fair. Here is a year 2.5 year graph that shows the PS3 isn't doing that badly (yet). Of course if things don't improve in the PS3's next year like they did recently for the 360, there might be a problem for the PS3...

http://vgchartz.com/hwlaunch.php?cons1=PS3&reg1=All&cons2=PS3&reg2=All&cons3=X360&reg3=All&weeks=132

Not saying the main chart is unfair...   just that launch aligned, the PS3 is still doing ok.

that graph is tricky because the end of the line for ps3 is christmas season and x360 don't.

The launches aren't aligned, it starts at the PS3 launch so they end at the same time.

they end in the same week of each console but not in the same date. If ps3 and xbox360 were been released in the same month then they would be really aligned. Sales just grow faster in christmas season so the graph is tricky.

Still like this, ps3 has better performance than xbox360 in ps3's weeks of existence (in relation with the same number of weeks for 360), i'm just saying that the graph is tricky so read it carefully.

Do you see the text and numbers along the bottom of the graph?  Those are dates.  They start at the PS3's launch and tell how much the 360 is ahead of or behind at that point in time.  It's not as tricky as you think and in fact it's pretty straightforward.

At the launch of the 360, it did not have a 5.5 million lead over the PS3.  At the launch of the PS3 it had a lead of 5.5 million lead.  That is what the graph is saying.

I don't know how to make that any simpler.

I always read discussions on vg chartz and I laugh about how pointless they are, and now I am in one discussion!.

The info in the bottom of the graph are just the weeks since release so it's just a simple count 1,2,3,4,5,6,7...

Anyway I think 360 and ps3 were realesed the both in november in America (the biggest market) so they actually the lines are comaparable, but not 1:1.

The sales of consoles are seasonal so if I release my console in february and you release your console in november (close to the christmas season) your sales will be better in the first two months than mine. That's my point about the graphs, but how I say they are actually alligned (partially) because both consoles were released in november in America (not the same year obviously).

Yeah, I realized after posting we were talking about two completely different things. You were talking about the link and I was talking about the graphs at the top of the thread.

As I said, I'm an ass.  :-p

My english suck too much that I answered after your edit. xP.

Anyway I'm not going to delete my post it took me a lot of job

@ Launch alignment:

I beleive the Xbox 360 christmas was better last year than the PS3 did this year. We won't see the extent of the damage for another couple of weeks when the regular numbers throughout the year start coming in.

@ Twesterm:

Funny stuff!

True, it'll be interesting to see what sales look like in the dismal weeks witch will indicate momentum. I'll have to pull out the popcorn for that show.

Make sure you chew slowly if you don't have another bag. It will be a long show.

Tease.

For some odd reason most people Sony fanboys don't assume that MS can also do price cuts let alone do one first.

Sigh, you can get a 360 incl. hard disc for 200E in Europe. A PS3 for 400E. Apart from the WLAN and the BluRay drive the internal components are pretty much the same. Now we all know that MS has more money but if you believe that they have similar room for cuts as the PS3 you are deluded. It is insane that Sony didn't counter the price cut by itself and can only be explained by the bad situation the company is as a whole. Besides cutting the price further by a couple of percent has less and less results the lower the price itself is.

Europe is where the fun is this generation. Japan is Sony-country, NA is Xbox360-country. Of course NAs # are much bigger than Japans.

Europe is very nice to see. The Xbox360 did an awesome move compared to the first Xbox. They need to keep things going in Europe. The exclusive Splinter Cell is a very good step. Europe loves Splinter Cell.

Forza3 coming isn't bad either. Forza bundle could work out... again.

PS3 has GT5 which will sell well in Europe. But maybe in 2010. This could be too late.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Actually in the UK

Amazon.co.uk at the moment:

Xbox 360 Console (60 GB Hard Drive): £159.99
Sony PLAYSTATION 3 Console (80 GB Model): £279.99

Which is a price difference of 1.75:1

In amazon.de the difference for the same consoles is exactly 400E vs. 200E.

Comparing bundled versions is weird. for example you can get LittleBigPlanet at amazon.co.uk currently for 17.99P.

Really?

Amazon.co.uk lists the LBP bundle 80gb as £283.99.

This thread does a really good job of showing how much Sony fought back at it's price point this year.
