This thread is based on an earlier thread that I thought was very comical and a Wii version had to be made.

I finally get it now - the 15 year life of the Wii is an amazing plan and, keep reading after this - could win them this gen and next gen in one!

Ok so here is (I think) Nintendo's plan for the Wii and that 15 year life:

From the start of this generation the Wii has basically turned into the PS2, only Nintendo have been more clever about it this time and have taken a gamble - fact is, the Wii has destroyed its competition in console sales and outsold PS3 and XBox 360 combined most weeks of its two year life on the market. The Wii caters for all gamers, all walks of life and is one of the most wanted electronic/console/toy of all time. The popualrity of Wii is so high that it is even destroying its nearest competitor PS2 by a long, long way. Wii continues to break sales records.

So when the 8th gen starts - Nintendo will have the strongest start and developers will be far more used to that console than the next console from the competitors. The Wii is raking Nintendo in heaps of money and revenue and they will have a lot of time and money to spend on planning their next console due out after 2015. Nintendo are less likely to be complacent and arrogant which Sony were last generation with PS2. Sony are now paying dearly with the mediocre performance of PS3 this generation.

So, really, Nintendo WILL succeed with very strong sales from their plan on expanding their market share and getting more consumers on board the Nintendo express train.

The fact is, if this succeeds, Nintendo has made an extremely smart move and will possibly get the best of both worlds, or maybe even three:

Consumers looking for the most innovative console
Consumers looking for a cheap console.
Consumers not bothered about power, but plenty of games and a cheap system

What do you guys think? I think if this is the 15 year plan Nintendo has made - I love it,Wii will sell over 300 million consoles this generation. Double the sales of PS2 around 150 million. More than double the sales of XBox 360 and PS3 combined. Wii will outsell the combined PlayStation family.

Nice. The funny thing is, this has more correct arguments than the other thread has.

If they were interested in a system with lots of game, cheap, and not so powerful. Why would they buy the Wii while the PS2 is still here?

If they ramp production 40% each year like the last one
45(now) +30=70 + 40=110 + 50=160 +70=230million !
There in no doubt they will easily outsell the PS2's 120 million in 2-3 years time who knows where it may stop - the Wii is in the habbit of breaking records and the PS2's record is gonna fall, both the DS and the Wii are set to top it.

OT: Lol. People are going to buy a Wii over two NEW consoles which no doubt will have motion control in some form as well?
