Forums - Nintendo - Smash fans: Which is better Brawl or Melee? Please state Why?

as far as the core gameplay goes i prefer the n64 version over the other 2. It was more simple yet it had a surprising amount of depth. You really had to read the mind of what the other person was doing in order to win. In all other aspects the other versions are far superior, other versions have good single players, tons of extra modes, unlockables etc.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

Super Smash Bros. baby! That original was perfect, still play it with friends to this day.

Eh, to each his/her/it's own I guess.

This will only take a moment of your time. *steals your watch*

I can't wait for the original to come out on the VC. I am so buying that for old times sake. Me and my friends played the bejeesus out of that.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

I prefer Brawl over Melee. I don't really have much of a reason. I guess I just like the feel better.

But there's still a special place in my heart for the original. I not sure if this is right, but it seemed so much easier to recover in the first game.

The stages were generally smaller in the original, so if you weren't completely blown away then it was easier to recover than in later games.

I also prefer Brawl. More characters with more stages and better balance is helpful, but I also prefer the slower pace and the greater emphasis on aerial fighting. Online is a nice bonus.

Melee 18482374%

I literally can't stand brawl and will simply not play it. Brawl feels like it was dumbed down for a more casual experience. Brawl is filled with tons of things that just annoy the piss out of me :(

The game is MUCH slower.

The down throw which I used to string ton's of combo's with, no longer work, it just kicks them off to one side.

The rolls just seem a ton slower....

The running speeds are so gimped that it's almost comical to chase after people, previously fast characters now all feel like donkey kong from melee to me -_-;

Maybe it's just me because I'm not really a long running Ninty fanboy, but I didn't really care for any of the new characters o.O; And they got rid of roy @_@

The graphics aren't bad by any means, they just don't seem like much of an upgrade sometimes. And this one really might be me, but sometimes the framerate seems off, and the game seems to have slowdown. Gah I miss melee :( My friends and I were to technical with that game, and it had such a great flow to it, brawl just seems like training for melee.

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

I'm so glad that Brawl didn't turn into a fighting game, you have no idea.

Melee was a step in all the wrong directions. Not on purpose, mind, but the tourney crowd exploited the Hell out of it.

well they made people a little bit slower, oh well lets see why, maby cause there is a guy named sonic?!? and just cause a few changes happen dont make the game awful, and graphics arnt that much of a upgrade?? are you kidding me??? go back and look again

@ vagabond; You bring up a good point about potentially broken moves. When it comes to characgter balance, I guess I called imbalance, too early... but it's still debatable. It's really hard to call, though because the two games are different. About MK though is that he has no bad match-ups even to the best chars his worst match-ups are even. Even Fox had bad match-ups in Melee. Though I will admit Brawl is a lot more fair to (most)lower tier characters.

Also this thread has a lot of good DDD vids. Generally his wide range, wadlle projectiles, and chain-grab makes him top tier. With a few other advanatge like a great fast fall speed and recovery
