Forums - Gaming Discussion - Upcoming Wii releases in Japan

Well... with the exception of VERY few titles, look at the sales figures for the sequels. There is a definite downward curve in terms of sales - for each subsequent sequel. Less and less people buy each one. If too many are created, the franchise itself is in danger of complete death. Eventually It has toi be reborn (with a completely new gameplay style, etc). Even releases on a new console won't help it (unless it has serious changes). This is what caused the "depression" in the Japanese games industry in the first place - too many sequels, not enough originality. It took the DS (which forced new gameplay modes) to change things around.

ok, since no one has answered my quote yet... Can anyone tell me if ANY WII GAME has been CONFIRMED to offer online playability? I'm going to purchase a Wii so I'd like to know. I would have loved to take my Mario Kart dominance online on the stupid gamecube.

A variety of first party Nintendo games have confirmed online... Pokemon Revolution (which is out in Japan), Battalion Wars II and Smash Bros... None of these titles have been dated yet... Mario Kart has not been announced yet, but seeing it will be a 2008 game at the very earliest, I hope/assume it will be online. Elebits is the only game out in the West offering any online functionality... Building and trading custom levels... Similar functionality has been talked about for Konami's Wii studio's next project, Dewy's Adventure. And of course in Animal Crossing you'll be able to visit friend's towns online. "Casual" online aspects like these may be as common on Wii as online multiplayer. Overall, the focus for Nintendo online is going to be on "safe", decentralized multiplayer, "casual" online features like those mentioned above, free services via the channel interface, and the VC store, which focuses on selection over features.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

I can't understand that "safety" issue. I mean WHAT can be unsafe when playing CoD online without chat enabled? WHAT?? A CoD rape? i mean Nintendo seems to be just stupid with that!

Pokemon for Wii is on-line and it will be the first on-line title for Wii.

The safety issue with Nintendo is that Nintendo faces a different standard than Sony or Microsoft when it comes to things like this ... If a teenager is playing online games on the PS3/XBox 360 and gets invited over to "Bubba16's House" and gets into "trouble" the media will likely ignore it ... If a teenager is playing online on a Wii and someone happens to have a hand-drawn Penis and Balls as their decal the press will be on top of Nintendo about providing a safe gaming environment.

What a crap lineups for both consoles !!If the better Wii game is a Cube title trasvased to the Wii at the last minute things arent looking very bright on the software side .The PS3 has very few games ,but at least has FN3 and some potentially good ones as Mist of Chaos ,Bladestorm and Virtua Tennis 3 and some and in the way of sellers Winning Post and Pro Yakyuu Spirits 4 could help a bit ...

Yes, you are right but it doesn't mean I'm wrong. Sale it is not everything. Take a Virtua Fighter for an instance - VF5 has the weakest sale of all - so what - it is still the best one of the franchise. Same with Tekken, Ridge Racer and so on. If you ask me about best games for PSP - I would say Tekken: DR, Syphon Filter: DM, MGS:PO, Daxter, Wipeout, Killzone, GTA - all sequels but you can't disagree when we talk about quality of this list.

Well those are great games ,but the PSP also has Every Extend Extra ,Lumines ,Loco Roco ,DJ Max Portable ,Mercury ,Field Commander ,WTF and the upcoming Crush and Cube as highly original games . Plus lets not forget the remakes !!

Actually I hoping One Piece - Unlimited Adventure (wii) to be a big suprise, personally. It looks great. :D http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?id=2759 I'm personally praying it comes out here in the USA.
