@shams, it will be around 3 mln. by the end of January 2009 in Japan. Japanese Christmas boost end later then in west.
And come on, BIGGEST PS3 game in Japan - FFXIII is only to be released in 2009.
AND PRICE, PS3 hasn`t reached even 29k yen price in Japan, that will help a LOT, same for SLIM version.

As i said - on AVERAGE, that means it can sell 3 mln. in 2009, and 5 mln. in 2010.
PS3 is ONLY HD console in Japan, Wii and PS3 CAN co-exist. :)

About Europe. So.. you expect PS3 to sell worse then x360 with a PRICECUT? With KZ2, FFXIII, GT5? WHY?

PS3 will be selling ABOVE PSP in next 2 years, that means above 50 mln. by the end of 2010 already. =)
PS3 is getting BIGGER support, then PSP was gettign last 2 years.

@Louie, i don`t care about Wii, it has very few games, that interest me. Same goes for x360. =)
About "to release new games all the time" this actually will happen this year. =)

You people REALLY underestimate:
1) PS3 299$ and 199$ price point.
2) SLIM version.
3) GREAT AA exclusives every year.

- Console sales are majority based on momentum for a variety of reasons.
- Prominent reasons include games being produced for consoles with large userbases. The PS3 having the smallest userbase ironically means it's userbase is the least likely to grow.
- The other most prominent reason is the "what my friend's have got" phenomenon, seen at play with the Wii, and with Xbox live on the Xbox 360.
- Then there is the fact that (assuming the Wii sorts its supply issues) the PS3 will ALWAYS be more expensive than the other consoles.

I seriously can't understand these predictions with PS3 selling 9-digit ammounts (100m+). Just because PS1 and PS2 were success, that doesn't mean PS3 will be too. Sony's victory streak is over, stop dreaming.

Making the right moves PS3 can still reach 100million, but not by the end of 2012, more likely by the end of 2013 (if next price cut and big releases start improving sales and successive ones furtherly boost them).

PS3 will earn a huge boost when GT5, GoW3 and the FFXIIIs are out. These titles together with Killzone 2 to counter Halo, will make the PS3 finally stand on its two legs to the average mainstream consumer. There are too many factors here: PS3 can either keep like it is right now and barely sell 50 million lifetime or go overdrive and sell up to 100 million.
