Each year Madden's sales on the Wii have grown. I would even go as far to call them respectable, that is something the last few Nintendo System's could not say.

Note- the reason Madden 2007 tracked so weird is because it did not have the usual august launch, it came out with the Wii in November therefore did not have the traditional Madden double bump. (look at most maddens, they have it)

And couldn't I say the same for the PS3 and 360. I'm sure everyone would hope that a casual franchise like Madden would increase in sales every year on the most popular console in history.

You could, but it wouldn't mean much considering that the PS3 and 360 weren't slammed with a surge of anti articles and threads based on first month Madden 09 sales.

I'm not a Madden fan or really that big of a football fan but a couple boys I know both love their Madden games on the Wii. They all look the same to me but w/e.

@ Claude

That's what happens when, despite having the largest userbase, you have the lowest sales.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

Not bad since Madden is the exact opposite of a game that should sell well on the Wii for one main reason.

It's all about competition...

No one is going to want to change consoles or controls to lose their edge playing... nor possibly switch and miss out on the version their friends have.

I mean, why get it on anything but 360?

That's where the "Madden Nation" is.  (See the TV show.)

not bad considering the shitty art box which scares away most madden pro players

I think it's interesting that Madden 08 on the Wii doubled it sales after the given week we're looking at (about week 19 or), or increased its sales by 100%, while the PS3 and 360 versions only increased their sales by about 30% each. Of course for the 360 version, it's much harder to increase the sales by much when you sell so much in the first few weeks. Madden 08 Wii is only 100k from a million, and it managed to sell 19k last week (the week before Christmas this year)... I mean, come on people! Buy 09! JEEZ.

But 09 is a million seller for sure. It'll take practically all year next year to do so, but hey. A million is a million is a million. Course, when did 500k become bad?

And please don't give me that "Well the PS3 and 360 versions sell SOOO much better than it, why even bother." I'll tell you why to bother - competition. Especially since the Wii has the largest user base. Someone comes a long (2KSports?) and makes a decent football game, and there's no other game to compete against it, all of the sudden, 2KSports has a "monopoly" on a sports game on the Wii. Given enough time, and it may compete with EAs sports games on all consoles... EA wouldn't want that. Since Madden is a bigger name than any other football series (and the only one with NFL License), it will crush the competition unless the competition can come up with something so much better... way harder than just releasing a decent football game on a console that has no football game at all (though of course the Wii does have Madden, so the point is mute).

Also, since the expense of Madden Wii is all included in the other versions (you don't need to recreate stats for each version, and the code that holds and works those stats is probably similar), 500k is probably a nice bonus, and since it's going to reach a million eventually, that'll just be great.

Note that this also works for such games like COD. Just because COD Wii won't sell as much as the other versions, doesn't mean it's not worth making. For one, COD is now the biggest non-exclusive FPS game on consoles, so keeping it that way on ALL consoles is important. Not just for this generation, but for the next. And two, it still makes a good bit of money.

Remember folks, longterm strategy. Short sightedness killed Sony this generation, Nintendo the 5th generation, started WWII, destroyed our economy, wrecked your car (when you couldn't see that tree approaching), and sunk the Titanic. Short sightedness: Don't let it happen to you.

well obviously it's ridiculous to say madden wii isn't worth making, 08 sold more than the ps3 version, and 09 will sell more than 08. I really don't know how you can say selling a million year after year isn't good. The 09 wii version is probably gonna sell about 2/3 as much as the 360 version, and about 3/4 as much as the PS3 version.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

^ You'd be amazed at what some people say. You have over 2000 posts though, so maybe you wouldn't be amazed. But I always put in the "stupid" stuff so that those few crazy people don't have to bother posting (and then I don't have to bother responding, since I already did), or they have to find something crazier to say. Either way it's all good.

But yes, you are right.

but wait its on the Wii this games sales do not count. Only hd console sales count.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)
