....in 07 The PS3 started outselling the 360 right before Christmas time then(Just like the 360 is now). PS3 didn't have the same game collection though, the 360's overpowered it with stuff like Mass Effect,Halo 3, etc. 2007was still hailed as The Year of the 360, even though it was being out sold by the PS3.

Why is it now that the tables have turned, this year doesn't belong to it, matter of fact everyone is trying to say the PS3 is going to fail now! How backwards is that? Complete media bias for the American company is most apparent here!

This year is still the YEAR of the PS3!

2007 and 8 were the years of the wii.
Best system sales, Most innovative games, best game sales, it outsold both the 360 and ps3 over the last 2 years (exept the release of MGS4), and it has the best experience altogether.

ps3 had the best games this year.................you cant play sales but you can certainly play games and thats what its all about.

2009 i predict ps3 to have the most dazzling software titles.

PS3 had the best software in 2008 yes, and arguably will have in 2009, but that doesnt make either year the year of the ps3

The PS3 in 07 only BARELY started outselling the 360 with the last few weeks left.  The 360 this year started outselling the PS3 in September through the end of the year to end up selling more than the PS3 this year by nearly a million units.  This year was not the YEAR of the PS3 because it did not outsell the 360.  07 was the year of the 360 because the 360 still sold more units than the PS3 in that year, just as it did again in 08.  Granted, though, both years were truly the Years of the Wii as graywolf said.

Because of the Wii, which has claimed 2006, 2007, 2008 and is doing well in 2009. Nintendo are even looking into relativistic effects that will allow 2002 to also become one of the Wii's years

It's all about expectations and perception. In Rocky Balboa, Rocky lost the fight, but he still "won". Perception is reality.
