Probably Dewprism (aka. Threads of Fate). It's a barely-heard-of Squaresoft game released back in 2000 for PS1, and it fell beneath most peoples' radars since it wasn't a mainstay Squaresoft RPG or even that big of a game time-wise. In an age when games were touting 100+ hours, Dewprism dared to be a 15-hour RPG.
And it's all the better for that short play-time, too. The characters develop just far enough for you to care about them, but don't overstay their welcome like so many video game characters do. The gameplay is also fairly innovative, with two separate play styles and a rather unique stat-boosting system that works swimmingly well. Said system makes New Game + mode a blast, too. It may not be the biggest RPG on the PS1, but it's definitely one of the most fun.
Sky Render - Sanity is for the weak.
