It's possible sony will make profit in 09 blah blah blah:) but since 09 is coming tomorrow (YEAH!!!) how long do you think it'll be now until sony starts making more profit?

They are making a profit right now. You will see the results end of January/ early Febuary. The decision to stick tight at $399 garenteed profits for the quarter, and the new 80GB+160GB+brickless PS2+PSP-300+many decent selling First Party titles+Home release+sold 3rd party sales+PSN cards gave them a ton of pure profit comapared to last year at the same time. Remeber last Q3 they made money on more expensive hardware, and a lot less software/services income, so this year is easly in the black.

Never. If they are waiting on luck, their ****ed.

Everything that happens was, is and will be due to factors that were either in their control (console design) or predictable (economic down turn, like we've had every 10 years or so).

This is really bad for sony, since everybody now expects a price cut in early 2009...not good, if you're laying people off, and if you're just now trying to get to breakeven.

They will start making profit WITHOUT a price cut during 2009. Since thats probably not gonna happen I think late 2010.

Seriously, though, their luck will turn around when they cut the price, which looks to be around the beginning of the fiscal year in April.
