Excellent Sega, excellent.

Now... about that Sakura Wars localization...

They should keep Sonic on Wii/DS exclusively. Divert whatever budget and resources they had allocated for the HD consoles and work on making Sonic a good brand on Nintendo consoles.

I don't think Sega is capable of making a good Sonic game anymore.

Not true. The daytime stages in Sonic Unleashed are excellent. If they could make a complete game like that without throwing in some weird crap it would be golden.

Sure they are capable.  The problem exists with development time.

Sega explained a few weeks ago that they can't make a 3D Sonic game like the old 16 bit Gensis titles because of the volume of texture data and scale of the stages would either make the game just a few hours long or make development time many, many years.

They can shorten that process by reallocating funds to just the Wii instead of spreading it among 3 consoles (2 with much higher texture date art budgets).

I notice you own the Wii version, where the daytime levels were NOT designed by Sonic Team.

Good for sega and sonic!

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

That excuse is bullshit, IMO. You only need a certain number of level sets for textures, after that it's just level design. Look at all of the old Sonic games... they were just new level designs built with the same pieces over and over again. I'd guess that there were an average of around 8 actual level sets in most Sonic games but there would be at least three zones in each level set, using the same materials.

Making a good modern Sonic title, even on the HD consoles, would not actually cost any more than what they've spent on games like Sonic Unleashed. It just takes some people with actual talent designing the game.

LMAO.  They used the same textures back then just like every devloper did.  That was thanks to the limitations of the hardware, not a design shoice.

You can't repeat the same texture pattern across 10 stages these days and get away with that.

Ohhh yeah. I forgot about that. Well, I know who should be developing the next true to his roots Sonic game.

Oh hell yeah!

Sonic is my man.

Go SONIC!

After all these years, Sega's poster boy can still draw a crowd!
