Forums - Gaming - Kotaku's GotY nominations...

It's weird to see the absence of MGS4, but oh well, different people with different opinions and all that. I'm very happy to see VC up there, even if it has no chance in hell.

What I find discouraging is people voting GeoW2 for best storyline. I know that the story was meant to be improved in the 2nd Gears, but I haven't heard anyone extolling its virtues so I have to assume its the same minimalistic approach as the first game, which leads to a very thoroughly exciting experience, but does not lead to a story that I would define as the best of the year. Unless your idea of a great story is none at all, which is certainly possible.

You know Kotaku, huge PS3 and Wii fans.

Which editor is big on the Wii? I know Ashcraft ain't much for it. Crecente either.

It was sarcasm. Not the most obvious, but still...

Gears 2's story is very effective at what it sets out to do, which is more than can be said for many other stories put out this year.

I thought it was, but Mama always says when one assumes, one makes an ass out of you and me.

That doesn't make it great though, just efficient.

AJ knows what to like about games.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Depends on who you ask. A simple story told well is much better than some grand story that is told in a bloated and heavy-handed fashion.

If they were gonna pick one PS3 Exclusive it should have been MGS4, not LBP.

Unless, you know, they liked LBP more than MGS4.

No MGS4 = win!

Kotaku ...we all know them.
