Forums - Microsoft - So, MS seems to still be dicking me around, can I get anything out of it?

@jaggedsac

Q'Bert? As in the old NES game or something different?

If they still do charge you after repeated attempts to cancel, just dispute the charge with your credit card company. Microsoft will pay more attention to them than they will to you.

In that situation I heard that if you refuse to pay the fee then your account for one is banned from LIVE and if you ever decide to get it again they just charge you for the months you refused to pay.

Would this happen with a disputed charge?

Wow, I don't know what to say. I don't see why if you called multiple times, and spoke to multiple people that said it was canceled, I don't know why it wouldn't be canceled.

Perhaps they have an "auto-cancel" order in the system to cancel your subscription on the 31st. Your system still thinks it will renew until that order goes through. Just a possibility. Either way, I have always had great response from their customer service. I even got MS Points refunded for purchasing an Xbox Live Arcade game, and then it went free a short while later for some promotion. I called and said I paid for it, but would have rather gotten it for free, so they refunded me the 800 MS points.

If it does end up charging you again, I'd call them until you get an absolute certain answer that your account was canceled and that you are not responsible for the charges.

It's a remarkably assholeish cancellation system they have. This is why I use Live Gold cards.

cant you change it from the Account Management?

^No. No cancel option in account management. Only way to cancel is with a phone call... or two... or three.
