You have a point, but if its only a small difference in price people would surely go ps3.

I disagree The Source. I think 2008 will not be Sony's year at all. I think that the fact they are missing a big year here is going to cripple them. Nintendo and Mircrosoft control 85% of the market right now, and with big line ups from both this year, I think it will put Sony in a stranglehold, and make the console stagnant. Also, games like MGS4 and KZ2 are not going to push the system as much as we think. The system just isn't going to turn the mainstreams head, and I don't think it ever will. I agree with steven787. He's wrong when it matters. He was wrong about the Wii and he's probobly going to be wrong in mostg of the things he said. I think he needs to post here to learn a bit more. Or just do hios job and not predict on stuff he doesn't know.

I disagree with you,

1.Lower price, consumers will have the ps3 available at a lower price increasing demand ofcourse.

2.Descent software, if we see these new IP's get descent sales and good reviews this might be a reason why people need to buy a ps3 just for those 10 new games that will always be exclusive to the ps3.

3.HD, if blu-ray succeeds in taking out dvd, making it the best format, ps3 will win this gen even if the wii is selling double of what it is right now.

Alot of 360 owners are looking foward to mgs4, and they will not hesitate to buying a ps3 just for that game, and if we truly see the ps3's halo(killzone 2) then sales will boost dramaticly just for that shooter.

I'm sorry, this is by far the worst logic combined with the biggest myth of this generation ...

DVD was released in 1996 and it took 3 years for the general public to begin to become aware of it, an additional 2 years before it really began to take off and 3 more years before it was dominant over VHS. Through 2007 and 2008 Blu-Ray and HD-DVD will be unimportant to the average consumer and it won't be until 2010 or 2011 where it really becomes a product of high interest to most people.

What this means is that Sony's secret weapon will only get loaded after they are surrounded, all their troops are dead and burried and the peace accord has been signed.

Hus look at this way - Wii is selling anywhere from 2-4 times faster than 360 each week, and it still took 9 months to pass 360. When most PS3s cost $400, I expect PS3 to sell consistantly at ~1.3 to 1.5 times faster than Xbox 360. But at launch, PS3 was 5-6 million behind 360. Given the USA Core price ($279), and sales in the UK, France, Ireland, Australia and Canada, I expect the 360 lead to extend to a peak of 7 million this December 31. After that PS3 will slowly but steadily cut into the 360 lead, selling worse in the USA and Canada for a while (Americans are price conscious, and there are some signs a recession will be coming soon), until it reaches $300/$400, but outselling 360 in Europe/Others and Japan throughout comparable time periods. Given that the lead will be 7 million through December 31, 2007, and that Wii outsold 360 2x faster than PS3 will outsell 360, PS3 will need at least 18 months - starting in 2008 (since it took Wii 9 months) to catch Xbox 360. However, since 360 will likely be at least partly mass-market price sometime in 2009 ($250/$200/$150 is my guess), the catch up may get delayed into early 2010.

Still, I expect it to happen because 360 can't come in second selling in 1.5 out of 3 markets when PS3 will sell in 2.5 out of 3 markets.

See i dont think 360 will gain anything this xmas, they will lose it. Jan 1 360 lead will be down to 5 million and will deteriorate fast in 08

360 will not out sale the PS3 in those markets, 360 will get better sales only in USA and Canada.

Right now PS3 is selling double in Europe and usualy 4/5 times more in Japan, any decent JPN release skyrockets the sales to 10 times that of 360

What do you see channging this.

And what your xmas breakdown per market ? (maybe a new thread for this ?)

If you don't understand the difference between CD/DVD and Blu-Ray you are a fool ...

The CD was introduced in 1982 and by 1994 was already a widely adopted format for music and data ...
The DVD was introduced in 1996 and by 2000 was already being rapidly adopted as a format for movies and data

Blu-Ray was introduced in 2007 and is an infant format in 2007 with little interest and slow adoption; it will likely not be rapidly adopted until late in this generation (2009 or 2010) and will not be a major format until long after that.

It can not be the dominant format in this generation because it is estimated that ONLY ABOUT 50% OF PEOPLE WILL OWN HDTVs IN 2010; people are not going to buy Blu-Ray players to play on their 480i TVs.

The 360 will beat the PS3 this year and take second. It won't be handily though if you look at the worldwide figures where PS3 should win the holidays in Japan and probably Europe.

The reason the people in the video didn't mention the GTA IV delay is because this was taped before that news leaked, they tape all parts of the show together and then show 1 part a week, that's why they are always wearing the same clothes if you notice from week to week within the same show.

The thing I agree with the most in the whole discussion was the effect of the 360 cut, positive but small. 25% sounds good, Halo 3 will bring a bigger boost but how big is still unknown and really depends on how many Halo fans already got their 360s before now...

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Please dont ever call killzone ps3's halo....

Killzone 1 was a huge dissapointment, it was supposed to be great yet it just didnt cut it. Halo 1 was a great game, and it started one of the   best franchises in history. Killzone 2 looks very promising but unlike halo its coming back from a game that was a dissapointment.

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Proud supporter of all 3 console companys

Proud owner of 360wii and DS/psp

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

You know this is rubbish when 2 analysts havent realised one of the years biggest releases (GTA IV) has been delayed, and that they don't know the core price drop was only $280. Foolish analysts...
