PSP had no remakes on the same scale (both in scope and investment) as FFIII and IV. If it gets one, we'll be able to compare. Until then...

All right, fair enough, point conceded.

But Square apparently doesn't think the risk is worth it at this juncture, is all I am saying.

How do you know they don't think the risk is worth it?  All of their upcoming PSP games, including the recently Dissidia, are in that ballpark. In fact Dissidia's first week is relatively close to FFIV's LTD - and that was the last remake released in Japan.

Dissidia is on-scale with remaking an entire Final Fantasy? Really? I had no idea.

Considering Nomura personally worked (and quite hard) on that one, and also considering it was the company's 20th Anniversary project, while FF remakes were outsorced to Matrix, you answer me...

I honestly have no idea. I know there's quite a bit of voice acting, but to the best of my knowledge it's a fighting game at heart with some fancy FMV.

It was a huge project for Square Enix (their 20th Anniversary special after all), Nomura personally re-designed all the characters, Kitase was the producer. When I first heard it was a fighter, I thought it would flop, well I certainly never thought it would outsell Crisis Core.

Right, but Nomura doing designs for the characters doesn't tell me the scale, either. He did all the designs for TWEWY, too. This is Square's Smash Bros., and I get that, but it's just not clear to me whether this is indicative of an investment in line with funding a Final Fantasy remake.

Not even mentioning Nomura, how many remakes had Kitase as a producer, or Ishimoto as a composer?

enough of the PSP. It is the worse software selling machine in history. I am still baffled they keep putting games on it.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Well, not a lot, I admit, but Kitase has directed and produced plenty of spin-off games (like the original Chain of Memories even), and Ishimoto has composed nearly all of those same games (again, including the GBA Chain of Memories).

And on how many have all 3 (together) worked on? Dissidia is huge in all aspects - it even has twice the amount of voice acting (and dialogue) the Crisis Core had.

Uh

I know they all worked together on The World Ends With You
