It was a huge project for Square Enix (their 20th Anniversary special after all), Nomura personally re-designed all the characters. When I first heard it was a fighter, I thought it would flop, well I certainly never thought it would outsell Crisis Core.

Right, but Nomura doing designs for the characters doesn't tell me the scale, either. He did all the designs for TWEWY, too. This is Square's Smash Bros., and I get that, but it's just not clear to me whether this is indicative of an investment in line with funding a Final Fantasy remake.

Not even mentioning Nomura, how many remakes had Kitase as a producer, or Ishimoto as a composer?

Well, not a lot, I admit, but Kitase has directed and produced plenty of spin-off games (like the original Chain of Memories even), and Ishimoto has composed nearly all of those same games (again, including the GBA Chain of Memories).

And on how many have all 3 (together) worked on? Dissidia is huge in all aspects - it even has twice the amount of voice acting (and dialogue) the Crisis Core had.
