Forums - Nintendo - Kirby Wii to be ready at the end of 2008?

I remember in an interview that Miyamoto said that a kirby Wii title would be finished by the end of 2008 for the holiday season. Where is it? I haven't heard nothing about it since then. My guess is that Nintendo delayed the launching of the title to 2009 (same than Punch Out) because they knew Wii was going to be sold out everywhere at Chritsmas, so there is no needing of having such title this year.

Do you think that if Wii don't stop selling so well we will never have quality core games from Nintendo? I really hope no ...

Um I don't think Kirby is going anywhere. Been really successful on the DS so Ninty is goign to want to "port" that success over to the Wii. I'd think a Kirby game in the summer of 2009 for the Japanese Wii owners and a fall/winter release for America/Europe. I mean its doubtful Zelda will be ready for this holiday season and Pikmin more than likely will be the big holiday title so they are going to need some more medium sized properties releasing before. Kirby would be my bet.

that theory about holding games back because the wii does not need them to sell hardware right now sounds familiar.. : )

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

I dont about him saying that but I couldve sworn he or someones from Nintendo said it definitely wasnt canceled.

So Kirby Wii should still be coming.

I know, I read your thread about holding games back. Yes, after the success of kirby on the DS, for sure Nintendo will want to repeat the same on Wii. May arrive by the end of 2009, at the same time than Pikmin 3, and maybe Japanese market will have it by summer, Zucas is right. I don't really like this politica, I have a Wii and do not have any AAA title to buy this Chritsmas; otherwise, X360 has Fable II and Gears 2 and PS3 has LBP.

And to think that it was meant to be released on the Cube... o_O

Ahh, Kirby Wii. So promising, so much vaporware.

Of course, i'll be first in line to pick it up on day one.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I am beginning to wonder if Nintendo wants Kirby to be handheld exclusive.

After all, Kirby -- not Mario -- was the launching platformer for the Gameboy.

And it is a Day 1 purchase for me too (I will reserve that puppy).

Those wanting a Kirby experience on Wii can play the Subspace Emissary on SSBB.

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Super Mario Land and Mario Land 2 both came out before Kirby's Dream Land on the Game Boy.  I think Kirby's best achievement was his NES Adventure.  Kirby's Dream Land 2 wasn't as good as either Adventure or the original.

Almost none of Nintendo's franchises is exlcusive to one of their machines aside from, maybe, Brain Age and Nintendogs.  Punch-Out could even work pretty well on the DS with combinations of pin-point stylus punching, stylus dodges, and button-press combos and blocks.  That'd be a pretty good formula.  Why hasn't that happened yet?

IIRC, I remember reading a kotaku article that contains a partial 2009 Nintendo release list.

Kirby for the Wii is in the list of course. But I won't say it's 100% Gaurantee
