Something like Best Actor or Actress is possible, but its really hard to win Best Picture or Best Director unless the movie was somewhat successful at the box office.
Its a complete shame that more people don't go out and see movies like Slumdog Millionaire that actually are something different, but it may end up really hurting Slumdog Millionaire's chances. We will see. |
Actually I have a feeling it'll gather very few, if any acting nominations, because the main characters are played each by three distinctly different actors. There is a child version, teenage version and adult version. Maybe Kev Patel can get a nom but he hasn't had much support so far, so I would say not.
Best Picture doesn't need to be successful at the box office to get big money Oscars. A lot of money is usually made post-Oscars off the buzz of the wins.
In any case, I'm going to hold out final opinion until I see a few more movies, like Benjamin Button, Doubt and The Wrestler.
@Commando-It's everything that leads up to the interviews. It's all the research performed, and the buildup of tension before they go and sit down.
