Best Video Game Controller?

1a - The NES Advantage Joystick. The thing was a tank.

1b - The original 3DO pad for the Panasonic FZ-1. 3 face buttons + play/pause, 2 shoulder buttons, the cord was a ridiculous 12 or 15 feet long, it had a 1/4" headphone jack w/ volume control on the controller, and each controller had another controller jack on it, so you could daisy-chain up to 8 controllers together for multi-player without needing to buy a multi-tap. Seeing these in 1993 was like a revelation of how all future game controllers should be designed, at least until analog thumb sticks became commonplace.

I'm partial to the Wavebird too, all things considered.

360's D-pad sucks. That's it's only flaw.
PS3'3 Analog is inaccurate, sometimes (especially in Prince of Persia)
Wii-Remote's plus and minus buttons need to be moved closer to the A-Button (in my opinion)
Dreamcast's controller.......well, I really liked it!
My Logitech Wireless PS2 controller is pretty sweet too!

All other controllers are just evolutions to what we have now, and really cant compete.

I think the Logitech wireless PS2 controllers are the best interpretation of Sony's layout.

Slightly off topic but Logitech is making some GREAT stuff these days. I just got myself their Illuminated Keyboard. The letters and numbers are laser cut so it's not even that obvious but in a lighted room even the letters are much brighter than printed on. Also it has a fantastic feel.

for me its would be:

gamecube controller
genesis 6 button controller
xbox 360 controller( with the D pad modded)

Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.

No Keyboard and mouse?

1) Wiimote and Nunchuck
2) Gamecube
3) SNES (most modern controllers pull their design from this one)
4) Xbox 360
5) N64 (I want to put it higher because of the anolog stick, but I have a few issues with it)
6) Xbox - the small one
7) Dualshock 2
8) Dualshock 1
9) original PS controller
10) NES (a classic, but there have been so many improvments)
11) Keyboard and Mouse (but still the best for the RTS genre)
12) Xbox - the big one
13) Atari

I think that is all of the contollers I have spent a considerable amount of time with.

Added keyboard and mouse for you.

The Playstation controller is the best ever. The whole configuration when it didn't have analog sticks just made my gaming experience better.

Still to this day, its my favorite controller!

umm... I don't really see how that is much different from the SNES controller... I mean, the PS controller was modeled off of the SNES controller. Do  you just like the handles?

First and foremost I never once held a SNES in my hand once. So I wouldn't know,by the pictures it does look like the Playstation controller. I remember Sony and Nintendo was suppose to make a console together but it was scrapped and Sony went their own route which most of the specs that was supposed to be for the Nintendo/Sony console was used in the Playstation.

That's what I remember, and besides I'm not flaming or anything but if the Playstation controller is anything like the SNES then I like the SNES its the best controller ever :)

Is that better ?

O.k Didn't know how old you were.

Nice, I didn't even know a 14 year old knows that much about the SNES.lol

I would have to say the NES controler. Beat that with a stick... A d-pad, start, select, A & B buttons. it handled over thousands of games
