I followed these to chicks(holding hands 0-0, and hot as F#ck) around and I was suprised they led me to the ps3 section.

These where there exact words:

"OMG LOOK ITS LBP, OMG I WANT IT, OMG YEA LETS GET IT, OH NO THIS GAME LOOKS BETTER, HAZE SOUNDS SO COOL, OMG LETS BUY IT, BUT I WANT LBP, BUT WE CAN ONLY BUY ONE, OK IF YOU WANT HAZE, OMG YAY"

yea... it was interesting, sadly they bought haze over lbp.

I was following them because they where in the gaming section, wanted to see what girls where interested in gaming(wtf would you do they where hot and they where holding hands XD no offense to any chicks)

If mainstream is understood as level of reception, then yes: Today more people buy videogames than 5 or 10 years ago. The growth started in the PS2 era and it continues in the Wii era (but the real mind opener over the past decades was the PC - at least in the west).

If mainstream is understood as widely accepted level of content, then videogames have always been way more mainstream than movies or music. Nearly all videogames are mainstream.

I think it is simply because games are such a bargain considering how much entertainment hours you get out of them in comparison to other forms of entertainment. $60 for hundreds of hours is a lot better than 3 movies for the same price and you only get 6 hours.
