You're kidding right? The wii may outsell ps2 but it's inability to be a stand alone/primary console for a lot of gamers would ensure it never gets to thatkind of marketshare.

Most people who bought ps2s never bought any other console but a much greater % of wii owners have either a ps3 or 360 or both which gimps the wiis ability to gain marketshare.

On second thought, wow I never thought you have realist prediction leo-j so what you're saying about this?

if the Wii have the majority of marketshare according to your prediction? Aint that contridactory? How do you gain marketshare if you dont have enough marketshare to begin with? And I thought you're good at this...

Everyone should buy a Wii now because it has sold the most consoles. Everyone last generation bought PS2 because it sold the most consoles.
Wii should be at 55% market share by end of 2009 and maybe 60% market share by end of 2010. People stop buying losing consoles and buy the winning console in the peak years of a console generation.

... and yeah, is it enough to give up on this leo-j? Its over leo-j DEAL WITH IT, the Wii have games, the wii have hardcore games, the Wii have 3rd party support. And its gaining marketshare. HD consoles and the Wii in the end are just gaming platforms. There'll be no year of the PS3 leo-j, not even in 10 years. SEGA and namco bandai have full support with the Wii, Square Enix will release DQ X on the Wii, CAPCOM have Monster Hunter 3. ITS OVER leo-j just face the facts and give up.

Even neogaf is accepting the truth why cant you leo-j? Why are you stubborn with this? Did Ninty do anything bad to you leo-j? Why do you hate Nintendo?

Well good question in topic.

It has nice market share which doesn't translate for third party sales numbers at all

Although PS360 may reach 110 million in sales, they might not.  I know a lot of people who went from PS2 -> Wii, and have no intention of ever gettings a PS3 or 360.

It's also been projected many times that potental Wii sales far exceed 300 million with the growing market.  Not going to debate it as likely or not, only pointing out that it is far from impossible.

 

Just mentioning this to show that as both of your premisses are potentially incorrect, this proves that it is clearly possible for the wii market share to exceed that of the PS2, and you clearly shown how it can happen.

PS3/360 will never reach 110 million, even reaching 90 million combined is a pipe dream, look at their sales rate, about 8-9 million a year in their first 2-3 years, even if they sell this well for the next 2-3 years, they would still top out at around 90 million combined, and that is unlikely because console sales decline faster for the nonleading consoles



 

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! I dont think wii can have the market share of the ps2, but it has done great for coming from last place.

It won't. The 360 and PS3 are selling far better than the Xbox and GC.
