Forums - Sony - Famitsu was wrong about WKC- 1UP Preview

I like that style of 4 player online RPG (oh phantasy star online how you sucked my teenage life away), so I will most likely get this even if it gets middling feedback.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

Here're some of the things that 1UP said about Haze in their preview of it:

"What is consistently great, however, is the gameplay and control -- it's already clear that Haze just feels right."

"Perhaps most impressive, though, is the four-player co-op gameplay."

"Maybe this will be the game to finally elevate Free Radical from "good" to "great""

So lets not get too excited just yet...

The gameplay and control of the Haze were good. And the four player co-op (only played the demo) was really fun.

The problem with the game was how un-polished it felt, and simple things being wrong. At it's core, the game was playable.

Not to mention the fact that gamers were promised a mature story from Haze.  However, what we got was a story that, in the words of GameTrailers, had the subtlety of a Saturday Morrning cartoon.  Some chessy one liners didn't help.  This is coming from someone who doesn't even know what subtlety is.

what you expect from FPS?

same can be said about halo 3 and or gears.

The game needs good reviews to give it good sales, because the PS3 needs help in japan, lets face it

Previews are always positive. I want this game to prove Famitsu wrong as well, but a preview is not going to prove one way or another. We'll have have to wait until some actual reviews start rolling in.

...

People actually listen to reviews on Amazon, on Japanese Amazon no less? Amazon people are generally about as dumb as they come.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Except with Halo 3 and Gears, we were never promised a mature story.

he does list the negatives of the game and that fact that they need to add voice chat so its a postive preview because its a good game

Well, it is all we have outside of Famitsu's review.

And the few bits of American press that get their hands on it.

Who listens to reviews for JRPGs anyway? I mean they're nice but they're not a deciding factor for me IMO. If it looks awesome...and WKC does...it's worth buying.

Well, certainly not any Tales fan. You'd be hating life to know that they are all mediorce.

;)

Tales games are not mediocre.  Not breaking new ground=/=mediocre.  Even reviewers think polish and enjoyability>innovation.  Look at how well recieved ToV was by reviewers.
