Back in 2003 when I got my Xbox, I knew about the Playstation 2 but I was happy with my Xbox. Despite jumping into gaming fully (dabbled with a sega megadrive before) I had no idea about any of the 3 consoles sales, I had no idea the PS2 was so popular or that the Xbox cost M$ billions .. maybe this was due to the fact I didn't have the internet.

So late 2006 arrives and my friend finally convinces me to upgrade to a 360, (again ... I can't really remember but I didn't even know the 360 had launched ... despite looking at concept images on the internet before it was launched (I remember looking at that ball shaped 360) ... don't ask me how I went a year without knowing the 360 had launched ... heck I probably knew just forgot ... somehow ...

at this point I had no like/disliek for any company.

Then I joined this site

I actually lurked a lot before I joined ... but I guess somewhere along the way I developed some intense dislike for the PS3 ... and Sony. Laughable I know. It was the FANBOYS fault, I think the fact I disliked a company and a console means I was a fanboy. Now though I am looking forward to my PS3 and although I think Sony could have made much better decisions this generation I certainly do not hate them as a company.

Fanboys make fanboys ... I disliked sony fanboys for the shit they spew (I'm completly nuetral for Nintendo so I'll keep them out of this) and I liked microsoft so defended it (logically)

I don't think anyone on this site truly hates either Microsoft or Sony, but the shit spewn from some of your mouths is incredible. Fanboys anger people with their biased comments and remarks. Even the most docile of people can get so pissed and retaliate.

Looking back I can't believe I bought into it ...... I still like Microsoft for the great gaming console they have made and all the great games, yes they're a company, yes they want my money. Doesn't change the fact they have brought me some happy times and I'm thankful for that. I look forward to many great games from Sony and the PS3 too. but PLEASE for the love of god ......

Don't generalise. Not all PS3 fanboys are the same, just a few of them give us a bad name. I don't need to name them, they know who they are.

I think you have fanboy and fan mixed up, a fan of the playstation 3 is by all means a worthy poster to the site, a fanboy is somebody not.

I fine SONY's first party stuff much cooler than the competition [after sega left, my frist system was a Genesis]. So I've owned a ps2, I own a ps3, and I currently have my second and 3rd PSP.

Edit: I also own a DS, don't see myself getting a Wii though.

I got a GCN on launch and never looked back.

What you say is true even though it sounds sort of off somehow...

And agreed, im a sony fan, but im also a tri-ace fan Square Enix fan, Level 5 Fan. and so on and so forth, it just so happens sony is also one of the creaters of the Current gen consoles aswell as portables.

Preference is the Key, if someone else dislikes it, well then agreed with your post 100% seece. :)

Agreed with all the bolded, i dont have a DS yet but someday i will, the Wii in my opinion i wont get to though. after i seen teh sexy graphics of the PS3 and Xbox 360, owning a console this gen without HD graphics sound and res and realisim would be blasphemy in my eyes.

Handhelds though is a differnt story.

DS + PSP combo = set for outdoors, of course i've noticed i've become car sick when playing my PSP in the car now...damnit... :/

See, I too used to hate game companies. In my case, it was Microsoft and the XBOX. The reason I hated it so much was because the games were seriously overhyped and didn't offer the variety of the PS2 and the first party games of the Gamecube. It got so bad that I felt that I was having Halo being shoved down my throat.

But then I played the 360 and fell in love with the features, the games and the console itself. And even when I had to replace the console two times I still love it. I even started playing Halo 2 and saw why so many people love it. I still think it gets overhyped, mind you, but that doesn't rob from the fact that its a great multiplayer title.

Thanks to this I realized that I shouldn't focus too much on a system's weaknesses and issues because then I would be ignoring its good qualities. I love games, and will play anything no matter the console. I am planning on buying the PS3 for titles like Uncharted, Little Big Planet and Metal Gear Solid 4.

I find it very annoying when people try hard to discredit a console simply because its not of their preference. If you don't like a console that's OK. But why the need to put down those that do? I also hate the notion that you have to play certain games in order to gain a serious rep. Didn't High School teach us that popularity, acceptance and reputation are bullcrap and don't matter at all in the real world?

I've had fun with Wii Fit and Gears 2. Just because I liked one it doesn't mean I have to ignore the other. No matter what people label them as they are games. They have goals, they offer a challenge and, most importantly, ARE FUN.

So all of this kiddy/mature, hardcore/casual has always been crap, same with console loyalty and fanboyism.
