Forums - Gaming - Imaginary villains! must defend LBP to the DEATH!

Ok I am confused, I see Sony fans/fanboys posting "take that HATERS" ect ect.

Exactly who are you defending the game from, people that said it woulnd't sell a certain amount? What?

I really don't see ANY hate for Little Big Planet on this site just people guessing over its sales which, lol, is funny because this site is actually about sales and predicitons. Just please englighten me on the whole "take that haters" ect comments.

This is the perfect thread for DMeisterJ

It all began when a couple of people said that the game would sell like 10 million or so and that it will be huge and when it finally released alot of people said it was a flop and etc, etc.

I think it is selling quite good and it is already a million seller but it is too early to talk about legs.

I've only just joined as a poster, however I have been lurking on these boards for quite a while, indeed quite a while prior to LBP's release so I have seen the contempt for this game from certain groups of Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360 fans.

The thing is that they try to talk this game down because they are jealous it is not on their platform. Such an innovative and critically aclaimed game is bound to suffer from this due to jealously, another prime example of this being Metal Gear Solid 4 (also on the Playstation 3). Because of the hatred of the game being on a different console, the groups have made up the ridiculous argument that the game is more like a movie than a game, which is ofcourse completely untrue and such statements will be shown in their stupidty as soon as one plays the game.

The facts are that LittleBigPlanet is a new IP, an innovative game that many said would fail because it is too 'kiddish' and geared toward an audience that didn't exist on the Playstation 3. The sales figures of the game to date clearly show the game as a success, as it is currently sitting just shy of the 1.5 million copies sold milestone and is continuing to sell well.

Another way the game was said to fail would be that the community levels created would not be of a sufficient quaility to sustain a high level of interest in the online and thus the game would die. This has been proven wrong with the flood of fun and well designed new levels created by community members.

If the above is too long:

In answer to the original poster's question then, the fans of LittleBigPlanet are defending the game against groups of fans of the other consoles who are jealous and thus feel the need to take their jealously out through attacking the game.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

thank you for your contribution and on that note welcome to the forums.

@ Alt account Frankenstein

I don't think it's any jealousy. I have a PS3 and have NO DESIRE to buy Little Big Planet. It doesn't appeal to me. While some folks see it as being totally awesome, I've read reviews, seen the countless statements about it selling like hotcakes - and it's not selling as expected. There isn't LBP hate on this site - it goes back to Heavenly Sword, Lair and Haze - all touted to be AAA, all touted to be system-sellers - and really, all it was is a slight bump in sales.

Seriously, why would a 360 owner or a Wii owner be jealous of the game? We have tons of games that keep and hold our time vs. LBP. And that's coming from a PS3 owner.

The game is not just a level editor.

Creating your own level, uploading it, the rating system and indeed the online aspect of the game all bundled together create something that has never been done before, LittleBigPlanet is a unqiue experience on consoles.

That this thread is all about LBP haters and you are the first to post is just too perfect for words.

Why don't you tell me again how you heard that LBP was a boring platformer? ^^
