Forums - Sales - LBP and the concept of ''legs''...

A game with legs is one who's lifetime sales chart does not look roughly like this:
____

|

You'll see what I mean here:

http://www.vgchartz.com/swlaunch.php?reg1=All&game1=New+Super+Mario+Bros+-+DS&reg2=All&game2=Pokemon+Diamond+/+Pearl+-+DS&reg3=All&game3=Halo+3+-+X360&weeks=150

Which of these three does not have legs?

A game I'm developing with some friends:

www.xnagg.com/zombieasteroids/publish.htm

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Total Sales 0.57m 2.11m 3.68m 6.36m
Week 1 66,939 97,734 100,276 264,949
Week 2 42,218 74,776 169,208 286,202
Week 3 41,832 104,651 265,983 412,466
Week 4 61,988 74,282 311,746 448,016
Week 5 101,772 122,349 311,742 535,863

A game that sells constantly better in the first five weeks could be a definition as well?

Guess the game

New Super Mario Bros. is bundled too.

Generally bundled (ala Wii Sports) or seasonally?

Hmmm not sure about this one but it still bundled.

Retailer-only bundles or limited seasonal bundles wouldn't change things way too much.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

It depends if it's due to Christmas time or not I guess.

It isn't bundled in Europe as far as I know and bundles in the US are nothing official. Maybe 1/10th 5% of its weekly sales were from bundles last week and maybe 1% (probably even less) of its LTD sales are from bundled units.

New Super Mario Bros. definitely is a great example of legs and surely not a game that got its sales from bundles.

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games (Wii version)

* Holiday boost - applies to all games, but especially kiddie & family oriented titles

* Many PS3's are sold with LBP bundled

* LPB already on a sale - many VGC members have reported it's sold at budget price in many European countries (and NA?). Not in Sweden though.

Yeah everybody knows that except maybe some delusional PS3 fanboys who really think LBP have great legs.

Where is LBP bundled?

AS far as Uncharted goes, that game hasn't seen any significant manufacturer bundling until the 160GB PS3 a few months ago.

Consoles owned: Saturn, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, PSP, DS, PS3

It is bundled in Europe, together with the 80GB PS3.
