Forums - Sales - Media Create first day sales 12/25 (WKC @ 132k)

132,000 firstday translates into:

180,000 copies first week (not huge sales for WKS if you compare to ToV 105K and TLR 105K on a 1/3 Japanese X360 installed base compared to PS3)

and

nearly 300,000 copies lifetime in Japan for WKC.

Based on these numbers I'd say worldwide lifetime close to 700,000 copies.

Meh, some people are already trying to make a big deal out of nothing. 132.000 is a decent result but it is nothing to brag about. And has anybody ever said that PS3 cant sell jRPGs in Japan? Link please because I dont remember a single person here saying something as stupid as this.

I can only remember people saying PS3 is not capable of selling jRPGs worldwide. I am one of those people and i still do think that way.

Yeah, I agree with this. Unless this game does amazingly well outside of Japan (it won't), I'm sticking to the 360 being an equal or better JRPG seller in the west, with both HD consoles about even worldwide.

OT: Sales are decent, about as I expected. Should end up around 300k lifetime.

in japan only which over 50% sales come from, for jrpg thats not even

Lost Odyssey sold nearly 750k in the west alone. Many of the 360's JRPG's have been doing moderately well, even with its low Japan sales.

@Riachu: Of course I'm not 100% sure it won't do as well as people think, just a prediction. I don't see the game being a million seller - I imagine sales being close to Blue Dragon.

Did you notice I was talking about Valkyria Chroncles, which has done poorly in the West? WKC did very good first day, and I will gladly agree with that - Won't sell it's first shipment out it's first week, but it looks like WKC will do 180-190k first week, which is pretty good.

I guess the question is 'what is the most likely highest budget JRPG this gen, supposed to sell?'.

PSO on DS did pretty crappy. I was expecting far more from it.

Highest selling First week HD JRPG in JP is "pretty good".  Guess all the 360 ones must be absolute crap.

And what is you comment about budgeting about?  Are you saying that WKC is the highest budget game?  And if so, were did you get that number from?

All of the 360 JRPGs released on a system that has 1/3rd the PS3 install base. Thats like saying 'Call of Duty 4 sold like crap on the PS3' - Totally ignoring the notion that systems with higher install bases *gasp* should sell games better.

WKC was announced well over two years ago for the PS3. That puts the development time of WKC longer than any other known JRPG outside of FFXIII. Not only this, it's one of the only games Level 5 has been working on outside of the Layton series for the past 2 years....That tells me a lot of the team worked on it. So I have reason to believe, given the development time, that WKC either matches, or exceeds any JRPG that's been released.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Again, Install base =/= Sales.

Just because something has triple the install base, doesn't mean it needs to sell triple the units.  I'll posted this in another thread:

If it's all isntall base, then how can CoD: WaW PS3 or CoD: WaW 360 > CoD: WaW Wii?

How is DMC4 PS3 > DMC4 360?

How is Burnout Paradise PS3 not too far behiind BP 360?  Should be much lower considering install bases.

And PES and Fifa PS3 > 360.

The argument is fundamentally flawed, and when brough into any argument shows true desperation from the poster that is unable to concede that they were incorrect.

Read my above post for your fundamentally flawed Install base argument.

And now you're going to budget for the game.  You don't know how much the game costs, and have no idea.  Your whole post is conjecture and speculation and reeks of desperation.

Edit:

Just because a game is announced doens't mean that work was started on it that second, please don't fail.

Also, Level 5 has been working on a gaggle of games in the previous years.  Three Laytons, Inazuma Eleven, and a teensy-weensy game called DRAGON QUEST IX.

Stop flailing.

132k first day is neither a failure nor a huge success, more in line with everyone's (somewhat low) expectations. The ability of the PS3 to support a JRPG of the level of FFXIII is still uncertain.

I'm very well aware of that installed bsae =/= sales. Far from it.

But the 3 times bigger base of PS3's versus X360's in Japan should add a few sales, perhaps 35-50% . I agree it's hard to estimate.

So I'd say that for these reasons, the 180,000 copies first week of WKC in Japan are rufly comparable to the 105K for ToV and 105K for TLR when we're gonna project the Western sales.

WKS will sell only slightly more than for example TLR and Infinite Undiscovery in the West (and it looks like those two titles are going to sell 350,000 copies in the West).

Where did you pull that number out of?  How do you know that?

 *face palm*

Im geussing the xfriends are having a hard time to find something negative to say about the sales numbers so they had to 'translate' it into something disappointing.

PSP
