No way. I love the Wheel. WIthout it, I wouldn't have any incentive to play Mario Kart Wii. I mean, they totally butchered one of my all time favourite modes - the battle mode. The blue shell.. goddamnit. Don't get my started. Online is pretty good, tho'. DLC? Nuttin', but tournaments are kinda nice.
No, what really made me wanna play the game was the new control option.

What is so new with a wheel as a controller..?
Wow i really did not know that there are people that question quality of MKWii, it's one of the most fun games of this generation, and most fun version of MK ever. Online , Wheel ( i only play with it) are pretty sweet , just because graphics are not that neat that does not matter because game is amazing anyway.
I Understand how people are bitter about AC perhaps it was expected that a game will evolve more, i havent bought it but after speaking to people they are satysfied (Graphics Do not matter in AC) but the addition of Online and few more elements is enough for majority i suppose.
Wii Music people might not like it, but it's a great fun game in my opinion, it's just different then standard music games and some people should give it a go.
I find it funny that people attack Ninty, they still are best 1st party publisher ever, and this generation they have released great games in their biggest franchises, they have attempted to create new ip's to target audience both casual and core. Yet people still expect more...
i used the GC controller to play mario kart.
my take, 64 still the best even with the new things.
kn, if you think simply updating the original Animal Crossing and releasing it under a new name is bad, wait until you get a load of these New Play Control! games coming out next year. Nintendo isn't even trying to hide it anymore..

For me, Mario Kart Wii is the most disappointing iteration in the entire Mario Kart series. It fails to live up to my expectations on most every level.
I've never played an Animal Crossing game and it's not something I'm interested in so I can't comment on the actual OP much.

Like I said, MKWii is the best MK SINCE the SNES version, but apperantly for you that's not good enough, for the simple reason you don't want it to be good enough. |
You can say it as often and as loud as you like but you'll always be wrong.
Wow, I said I wasn't going to post again but the level of vitriol and injected thoughts are simply amazing.
I said MK, to some degree, wasn't as innovative as I had hoped. I didn't attack the game directly. I was somewhat disappointed. Do I still play it? Yep. Is the best MK ever? Not in my opinion.
Those that question my love for Nintendo... I guess importing a Japanese N64 when they launched and modifying it so it would play both U.S. and Japanese games -- at roughly twice the retail price -- doesn't count as a fan of the console. You know nothing about me. Perhaps you should withhold judgement unless you do.
As for "Read the Reviews".... I've given up, for the most part, on reviews. I'm convinced Microsoft and Sony use money, advertising, and other forms of "persuasion" to get their crazy number of "10s" in so many re-packaged shooters. Nintendo games haven't exactly been well reviewed this Gen and some of them have been far better than the reviewers say...
I said nothing about shooters, sports, music and other games on other platforms by several publishers being rehashes but since they were brought up, let me say this: I don't buy them, either. I have purchased COD2 and COD4. Both were good. COD3 and World at War are redundant. The entire Guitar Hero series is redundant. I have purchased two madden's this Gen: Madden 07 for the Wii and Madden 08 for the Wii. I was so pissed at the crap that was 08 that I took it back to Gamestop and traded it in within days and I won't be buying any more EA sports titles. It is the same rehash. The bottom line is that I don't like playing the same game over and over. I play it once (maybe twice) and then I'm more or less done with it. I move on. I expect a sequel to be original enough that it seems like a new game or new enough to feel like a new experience.
Lastly, for the "manly" games comment -- Nice. You need to grow up. Way to read something completely unrelated into my post and then attack me with it when you know nothing whatsoever about me or my taste in games. You are so full of fail it is comical. My favorite games so far this gen, in no specific order, are:
Little Big Planet
Super Mario Galaxy
Wii Sports
Gears 1 and 2 (though 2 is a bit repetitive over 1)
Portal (Part of Orange Box)
Boom Blox
Call of Duty 4
Lego Batman
Rock Band
And I don't do online.
I just call it like I see it. Yeah, Nintendo is just doing what any profit-taking corporation would do. Capitalize on the fan base and rake it in. It doesn't change the fact that some of the recent trends in Nintendo games (note I didn't say console!) lack the innovation of some of their earlier creations/iterations of popular gaming.
With all this said, I am done with this thread. Thanks to those of you with rational thought processes and posts.

@ kn
One of your favorite games of this generation is Boom Blox. This means that you are the exact opposite of me. This is why we probably disagree on most of the points that you made in this thread. MKWii is not only the best MK since SNES, it's better. Anyone that says I'm wrong is wrong. :p See what I did there? I stated my opinion as fact. A lot of people do this and it's wrong. That's not an opinion.
