Forums - Sony - PS3 disk drive won't load

I think he is finished bro.

That's a bitch. During my Christmas break I have no PS3...

2 questions though:

How much does it cost?
How long does it take?

Over here some had the same problem and when they called Sony, sony said two things they can do:

1) Pay 200 bucks to repair it

2) Buy a new one....

First do you still have your warranty? Then go to the store where you get it from...For sure don't call Sony my experience with them is very sad.

$200? GAY. I have no warranty. Maybe they will have some Christmas spirit and take it easy on me =)

I know it's far-fetched, but how about using a CD cleaner (instead of DVD one) ?

How long do you get (warranty)?  Then ask Dogs Rule how many years sony has to give minimum for their product. It is possible that must give a 3 years warranty but gave you only 1-2 years.

Nah, I'm pretty sure they only do a 1 year warranty. My in-store warranty was 60 days.

I'm gunna try to find a CD cleaner.

Have you tried a different game?

Happened to me once - the disc had an almost invisible coating of dust - cleaned and tried again and all was good. Never had a problem since then

If yours is a 60gb - its a known problem according to google

If you tried different disks with the same result, I might have a potential solution.

Friend had a problem where it was doing weird stuff with the disk drive. He took it apart and found that Sony uses a bunch of little magnetic strips (like the ones you find in DVD cases) and one had been jarred loose and was partially covering the optical sensor or whatever. Moved it out of the way and all was fine.

So if you are comfortable taking your PS3 apart, you might have a similar situation.
