No, they'l save their price cut for a while. They wont be too gutted, Sony consoles still outsold Microsofts comfortably especially if you count the PS2.

Since when are PS2 sales combined with PS3 sales? o.O

No, i mean that although the PS3 is being outperformed, Sony as a company still shifted around 1.3M consoles during the week (including PS2)

Well yeah, obviously, but is the PS3 "finally" profitable for Sony? It's a true question I'm asking, I don't know all the details.

Well they will start making profit on each console sold very shortly but no-one knows if they'l ever recoup the losses

 Well I just quote a Sony spokesman, he answered the question, if they will ever recoup the losses of the PS3: "No way" end of quote. So, I guess: no.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

and yet, it isn't double at half the price.

This will only take a moment of your time. *steals your watch*

Is MS worried?

I mean, this is the second week of that.

>_>

Your comment would make a lot more sense if the most expensive or even middle tier 360 model was half the price of the PS3.

The lowest tier 360 model is half the price of the lowest tier PS3 model. The most basic 360 model does not account for 100% of the 360 units sold to customers, so I think your point has a flaw.

I'm not a fanboy, I just try to tip the balance in favor of logic and common sense.

When you think about it, it's still pretty awesome what the PS3 achieved even without a year headstart!

But yeah, a price cut is needed.

It's amazing what the PS2 achieved with a years headstart.  You're damn right a price cut is needed for the PS3.

The price is the ultimate deciding point(consistently with most products) anyway you look at it, especially for the average consumer.  The fact that the 360 has several models should encourage other demographics (finding the consumer that gets discouraged is difficult to determine).But regardless of the sure consumers, the average consumer is the real meat.  The arcade version has already been said to be about half of the total 360s sold this holiday season.  If this turns out true, then there it is I guess.

Sony should worry about cutting the manufacturing costs of the PS3. If it can be dropped farther they would be great.

Sony is bang on target to reach their 10m sales in the fiscal year (April 08- March 09).

Does anyone else think they actually didn't expect or want more sales? (i.e. knew the price would affect the sales to this degree almost a year ago).

PSN ID: T_Gears

End of 2009 ltd sales:

Wii = 67-68m

X360 = 38-39m

PS3 = 34-35m

Prediction: The PS3 will surpass the 360 on weekly sales after it drops to $299 on all regular weeks (no big releases).
