Forums - Nintendo - Monster Hunter G ported to Wii... Famitsu Scan...

Eurogamer is much more positive on the controls though

Tsujimoto couldn't tell us anything about which new weapon sets will feature in Tri, but the demo missions offered us a choice between the staple greatsword, shortsword, hammer and crossbow (although our beloved gunlance was, lamentably, nowhere to be seen at this stage). The Wii controls, encouragingly, worked perfectly - swinging the greatsword felt satisfyingly natural, and the timing is generous enough to ensure that you can't accidentally mess up a combo attack with an unintentional movement.

The A button serves the same function as swinging the remote for the exercise-phobic, and the game will support the Classic Controller as well. There is no arbitrary waggling shoehorned into Monster Hunter 3 - casual gamers may well love Monster Hunter in Japan, but Capcom clearly isn't about to infuriate the series' hardcore players by forcing them to use motion controls.

Guess it's polarizing.

They sound complex or more complicated at how they are presenting them. I mean its easier said than done. Is there any videos up showing this in person, like live footage. That's what I want!

This video summed this game up for me as far as controls are concerned. I'm getting it :)

Wow.

Underwater seems like the exact opposite of fun.

@DMJ

Nobody can be excited for a game even though they haven't played the series yet? WTF? That's the most retarded thing I've ever heard.

No, the problem is people are excited for the game just because it's on the Wii.  If people wanted to get into the series, they could play the last six games in the series.

I'm not saying "don't be excited", I'm saying "Don't hop on the game's jock since it's on Wii now".

What if people don't want the other games? Or they don't own a PS2 or PSP? What if they just want to start with MH3? The same goes for every other series.

If they don't want the other games, then they certainly will not want MH3. On any console.

And I don't see why or how anyone would not have a PS2.

Well that's just not true.  There are plenty of people who refuse to buy old games when a newer version/sequel is coming out that's going to be better.

Also... I mean... have you ever SEEN a copy of a PS2 monster hunter game?

Ever?

I haven't... and i go to used gamestores... a lot.

Why would someone want the PS2 version when online is a decent part of it.. where it's like impossible to beat some monsters with out it? Why pay for a game where nobody is going to be online... when you need online to complete everything.

Heck it's not even like niche games where you could find someone on this site to play with you as almost nobody even on this site owns the PS2 games.

There are tons of reasons to not want to go with the PS2 version.

Which... if anything you'd think DJmeister would know... (and likely does, but is letting bitterness get in the way.)

He's just making a bitter fanboy argument.  Don't encourage him.

I see a few copies of the original MH (not 2 or G) frequently, but it's not too hard to find.

Although, if someone is interested in the series, then why wouldn't want to see where the series came from

I just gave you like a bunch of reasons.  The biggest being Multiplayer is NEEDED to play the entire game and there is like zero chance to play multiplayer.

Actually youre wholly inaccurate.

I've never played the game multi-player.  Always played by myself.  And like I've been saying, the game isn't going to change much between MH1 and MH3.  And the game is very very far off.  I mean, the game is 40 percent done, so it won't be out for another 6-12 months, and then localization will take another 6-12 months (Actually, it took them over a year to localize MHP2G, it's coming over as MH: Unite in the spring).  Seems like a lot of drama to go through for a game that could be close to 2 years from gracing American shores.

>_>

May as well spend 20 bucks to buy the original, or buy the PSP games and see what you're so excited about.

So you've soloed every single monster then?

Just about everyone says it's popular on PSP where it failed on PS2 because of the online.

So... i'd say not.

It's like people who don't want to buy GT5 Prologue or GT4 before they get GT5.

GT5 is just going to be better.

The only one causing the drama is you... and it'd be funny if it weren't sad.  You really gotta let go and just learn to enjoy your games rather then let the console wars screw you up and make you all angry and mad at games you like... just because they arent' on your favorite console.

Yeah, those tend to suck in games, but not always.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

They do, but you can't really blame Capcom. No one really does it right.

@ Soriku

I got for the single player but I played with my brother from time to time.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Who plays MH by themselves? For sure I'm buying the game mostly for online...and other people are too. Yeah, I'll play the singe player, but that's not the main attraction.

I did.

I played them single-player and loved it, and poured over 150 hours into it.

Yet you seem to be in the minority on that if we're to believe why the PSP version did better then the PS2 one.

I know that's why i didn't get a PS2 version.  Was told lots of monsters couldn't be beaten solo.

So it seemed pointless to buy.

It's harder, but not impossible.

Of course many games are easier with more than one person.
