Nobody can be excited for a game even though they haven't played the series yet? WTF? That's the most retarded thing I've ever heard.

No, the problem is people are excited for the game just because it's on the Wii.  If people wanted to get into the series, they could play the last six games in the series.

I'm not saying "don't be excited", I'm saying "Don't hop on the game's jock since it's on Wii now".

What if people don't want the other games? Or they don't own a PS2 or PSP? What if they just want to start with MH3? The same goes for every other series.

But you own a PS2.

But that wasn't the point.  I'm talking about people who hopped on the game's jock when it was announced on the Wii.  If you're not one of them, no need to continue the convo.

On a side note, if you don't want any of the other games, you won't want this one.  And if you want to start with MH3, it's kinda throwing yourself in the deep end if you are a PSP/2 owner since you can pay 20 bucks for an older game and decide if you like it, rather than spend 50 bucks on a game that you might like.

If they don't want the other games, then they certainly will not want MH3. On any console.

And I don't see why or how anyone would not have a PS2.

Well that's just not true.  There are plenty of people who refuse to buy old games when a newer version/sequel is coming out that's going to be better.

Also... I mean... have you ever SEEN a copy of a PS2 monster hunter game?

Ever?

I haven't... and i go to used gamestores... a lot.

Why would someone want the PS2 version when online is a decent part of it.. where it's like impossible to beat some monsters with out it? Why pay for a game where nobody is going to be online... when you need online to complete everything.

Heck it's not even like niche games where you could find someone on this site to play with you as almost nobody even on this site owns the PS2 games.

There are tons of reasons to not want to go with the PS2 version.

Which... if anything you'd think DJmeister would know... (and likely does, but is letting bitterness get in the way.)

He's just making a bitter fanboy argument.  Don't encourage him.

I see a few copies of the original MH (not 2 or G) frequently, but it's not too hard to find.

Although, if someone is interested in the series, then why wouldn't want to see where the series came from?

By that logic 360 fans shouldnt be excited for RE5 or SF4.

I guess people need to play Phantasia before playing any other Tales. And I guess people should play FF1 before playing any other FF.

Seriously...it's not necessary. It's nice to, but not necessary. And Kasz already listed reasons why some people may not want to play the older ones.

No, not at all. It's like playing going back to play Symphonia and Abyss after playing Vesperia.

Phantasia doesn't play at all like the new Tales whereas the MH franchise isn't going (very likely) to make any major changes in gameplay. I would want to play Persona 3 to see if I'd like to try Persona 4 before P4 came out. That's all. Which is a good reason that they are porting this to Wii.

Then I can use Pokemon as an argument.

I only own Ruby, Sapphire, and Leaf Green (well...my sister owns LG) but does that mean I should play the other ones? They're almost exactly the same.

If you've never played a Pokemon game before and you want to know how the new oneis going play, then yes, you should play one of the earlier versions to see what it plays like. To give a taste of what you're getting into.

Thanks for the support.

And Merry Christmas Soriku! It's the 25th in Pennsylvania and you need to go to sleep or Santa isn't coming.

And I got into Pokemon just fine without playing the older ones Same will apply to MH.

Also, I'm too busy watching FMA to go to sleep lol.

Pokemon is about as simplistic as it gets, MH isn't exactly a easy game. Although, I bet they will make it easier for the new players though.

For those interested in playing the older Monster Hunter games, the psp would be the way to go. The only MH game to come out on ps2 US is almost useless right now because SMAPS discountinued the online service on January 1, 2008. So in terms of playing all the games for the start it is impossible (unless you have a japanese ps2[maybe]). I don't know if the original Monster Hunter in Japan is still going (online wise), but it can do so since the server is actually run directly from Capcom (lucky Japanese). You can still play MH US version on ps2, but the online part was almost the whole game so it's not really worth getting into right now, but as a MH fan for me it's worth keeping.

Waiting...waiting...waiting...waiting patiently for MH3 : p

i think that this game will do really good and i am happy to hear about this going to wii.
