But how much would they really make over the localization? MHF2 only sold ~500k in the West, while enjoying triple that in Japan. It can't be a lot of money made on making it over here.

Apparently enough to justify the work. It probably doesn't cost a ton just to translate the game from one language to another. Plus it helps build up the fanbase for the series in the west. Capcom is dedicated to making the series as big world wide as it is in Japan.`

Also, I do find it quite hilarious the number of people that have hopped on this game's jock since it was announced for the Wii.

I distinctly remember the lack of interest in Monster Hunter Freedom, 2, and to a lesser extent 2G (this was released after the Wii announcement), even though the games sold well. There wasn't tons of info on new monsters and environments being posted, and when they were, not a lot of people cared, but as soon as it's on the Wii, huge threads are being made for the game, and everyone is excited.

So my question is:

Have people even played the game? Any of them? MH1, 2, g, MHF1, 2, or 2G?

Cause if not, I fail to see how you can be excited for a sequel in a game of a series you haven't played.

>_>

Maybe because like... nobody owns a PSP?  While lots of people own a Wii.

Also... i don't know.  How were people excited for Final Fantasy 7 instead of Final Fanasy 1-6.  The games are totally self contained i thought?

Even in linear story driven games sequels often beat the first in the series.

How many PS3 fans are excited about Killzone 2... without playing Killzone 1?  (Or even worse, people excited for Killzone 2 who did play Killzone 1!)

That wasn't my focus point, but I'll rebuttal.

FF changes gameplay every time.  So that point is moot.

KZ2 has changed tons from KZ1.  Personal experience from being in the beta.

I just find it hard to get excited about a game that will be the same as it was the last six times it was released.  Capcom isn't re-inventing the wheel here.

The first two times it was released nobody had heard of it.

The last 3 times it was released it was on an unpopular handheld that most people don't own.

Would people who never owned or liked handhelds or played pokemon be pumped if it came to a home console?  Most definitly.

Monster Hunter G Wii - more details
December 24th, 2008

- hits Japan in Spring
- Classic Controller use exclusively
- purchase items at shops, and send them directly to your home
- fees have not been determined

So, it's not a test like someone said, it's just a quick money grab it seems, because new controls are not gonna be implemented. I find it a bit hypocritical that they say SF4 cannot make it to the Wii because not everyone owns a classic controller, while they are making a quick port that will only support classic controolers...

The fact that this game requires a classic controller is entirely irrelevant to the SF4 arguement. This game will be cheap and easy to port while helping build a fanbase for future releases. SF4 would probably be very expensive to port down while not building up a fanbase for anything. This game can sell like crap and turn a profit where SF4 would need decent sales. See the difference?

Not really, a SF4 port wouldnt be that expensive either I believe.
At least the theory of them not making a SF4 version for the Wii because of controls has ben disproven. Now it's to be expected that a SF4 version will make it on the Wii now that we know they will release games that don't support the Wiimote at all.

That would be the most logical thing after saying that they will never release a game that wouldnt be played by 100% of the userbase. If not, this game is just a quick cash in.

You don't think it would be expensive to either create, or massively overhaul an entire engine while creating an entirely new set of art assets so it can run well on the Wii? PS2 to Wii ports are easy to pop out. Porting down to the Wii from the PS360 can be troublesome as seen with Dead Rising Wii.

But SF4 is way more popular than Dead Rising, so why not do it? Edit: It will also look a hell lot better than DR and will be much cheaper to make.

Because Dead Rising Wii would control well for 100% of Wii owners. SF4 is working with whatever (much smaller) percentage of owners have a Classic Controller. Consequently they do not believe the game will sell well enough to turn a profit.

Dead Rising used one of the 360 cores to manage the AI of all the zomibes. SFIV cannot have a console specific trait, since it is on 4 systems right now.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
