I want to buy it, but no one has answered my questions on the game....

Yes, you can play it on PSP.
We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls. The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke
It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...." Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Can you tell me how the combat is? That is random battles turn based, etc...the story and whatever else you can think of?
I searched high and low for this and Suikoden II when I bought my PS2. I couldn't find a copy to save my life. If my roommate doesn't buy it for his PS3, I'll give him the cash for it. Suikoden is my favorite RPG series.

Its random battles that are "turn" based. All six of your characters go and then there characters go.
The combat is pretty different by RPG standards. You have six characters and you equip runes on them for magic. You have a modified kind of MP that gives you a set number of times you can cast the spell (increases as you level up and each rune has usually four different spells on it).
The combat can seem simple, but it has a lot of depth to it. There are a lot of pretty crazy combination attacks, and you can significantly customize a lot of your characters with special runes and other innate abilities they have. Some characters have "unique" runes that can't be taken off but which are usually phenomenally good.
The story is pretty decent, but is definitely not as good as Suikoden II's.
There are a million and one things to do in the game, and there are 108 different characters you can get (obviously some are completely worthless, but others are godly). I definitely recommend using an FAQ if you want to get them all, as a few of them you can't get after a certain point. Honestly, this is one of the most fun things about the game.
The Suikoden series always has great minigames too.
I'd probably give them game either a 7.5 or an 8 out of 10. For $6 you are definitely getting your money's worth, as the game is pretty long and has a ton of things to do.

Thanks, how random are the battles, I can't really stand RPGs that you take 2 steps and there's a random battle (DQI&II come to mind).

Not frequent at all, Suikoden (except IV and V) are the series with the most balanced encounter rate ever
I'd give this game a 9/10, not as good as II, and the interface is a bit rough, but excellent nonetheless
